    Steve Wood is his manager and made the fight with Broner.

    However, many of Steve's fighters have promotional contracts with Maloney (ie Brian Rose) also. Part of their contract allows them to box on VIP shows where required.

    He was not released by Maloney to go to Steve Wood, he is still with Maloney. Steve Wood/VIP resigned his management contract when his previous one with Chris Aston expired.
