    Promotional issues? Match making issues?

I'm sure something has been said, but maybe I missed it.

  2. He's still recovering from the damage Danny Jacobs inflicted. :yep

He possibly looked too good against Jacobs and no one wants to fight him. Just a thought.

I agree, I don't think opponents are lining up to fight him. They don't want to make the same mistake as Jacobs..

Its like this, they wanted to make jacobs champ at 160, Pirog upset evreyone by ko'ing him. Now you got a guy that doesnt speak English, is 30, not to good looking and not signed with a big us promotor. thats puts him in the high risk low reward position. Martinez wont fight him for that reason even though they are both champ at 160.
This kind of boxing politics makes me sick, the guy gave a great show and definitely deserves to be in big fights, jacobs who got destroys is fighting in 2 days. totally unfair to pirog, I hope we will see hi back before march

Pirog was the 'opponent' in the Jacobs fight, and you don't turn into an HBO child just because you knocked out one. Too bad because he's my kind of fighter: very good ring smarts, high skill level yet entertaining style, supreme knowledge of the sport, down to earth, good learner, gym rat, and a hardcore boxing fan. Of the 3 best interviews I read this year two were with Dmitry and I was absolutely sold, I'm definitely a fan. I think he won a lot of hearts at HBO too, it's just hard to get a fighter a date and opponent who showed up 'out of nowhere' without strong promotional backing. No wonder why he wants Pavlik, it'd be an excellent defining fight and I believe HBO would put that on in a heartbeat. Kelly just has to pull his stuff together, get in the gym and put the demonds behind. What a fight it would be with the winner entering the big picture!

**** I thought maybe he retired after beating Jacobs. Really who's left. The man's done enough.

Looks like the typical action we see after a big win. Guy disappears for a year or so, then takes a fight against a journeyman and never gets headlines again.

Boxers just wont stay busy and make fights to get a bigger payday. That school of boxing is in era's past. They get one good win and they think they are all manny pac or oscar dlh. Pirog should have already fought again and have another fight on the books ready to happen. He has had a dismal fight frequency, only fought once in 2009 and now will likely be out a full year before he gets back into the ring.

Look at jacobs, essentially turned pro in 2008 and already has 20 fights. Thats how a guy up and coming should fight, often. Pirog turned pro in 2005 and only has 17 fights??? Really??

Maybe he has things going on outside the ring. I cannot be excited about guys who fight that infrequently.

Too much money and/or ****ed up in the head. He's doing a Pavlik on vodka... passed out on the couch.

Nah seriously, I hope we see him on HBO in the next 3 months.
