Anyone know why Pirog is sitting on the shelf? Whats the deal?

Dont fight anyone and get forgotten/rusty, fight a journeyman and get ridiculed for fighting a nobody. Lose Lose

 

heard he was meant to fight craig mcewan in january but now i hear craig is going down to light middle so i have no idea!

 

Pirog wanted to fight Pavlik. At the 23rd annual WBO convention they discussed making Pavlik the mandatory. (Actually the WBO wanted a title eliminator against a guy Pavlik would probably stop in 4-5 rounds.) Obviously, Pavlik was in no shape to take the fight.

Pirog wanted Martinez. In spite of the fact that HBO said they want Pirog back, Martinez and diBella won't even entertain the notion of fighting Pirog.

Pirog has to deal with the WBO, and their top 15 is a bit of a joke. They have Pavlik at #3, but the rest of the top 15 are guys who, in my opinion, would take a a quick and brutal beating.

I think that Pirog/Simon, Pirog/Macklin, and similiar fights are mismatches. However, Pirog should still make a damn fight, and then after that maybe Pavlik will be back and choose to stay at 160.

 

if i were him i'd be talking up a storm trying to get any fight with a name on it

they tried to make a fight with pavlik but pavlik went into rehab. then with strum. most likely hell go through what maidana went through and sign with top rank or golden boy. i sorta hope he signs with golden boy because gbp is the lesser of two evils in my eyes. he could make a fight with serg, i'm sure dibella will work it out. but hbo won't pay that much for it. so he has to probably work his name into mix now.

 

I am so tired of boxing politics! It's killing boxing, keeping fans from seeing the best fights out there!

 

he is trying to cash in on his success, so he won't fight just anyone and risk taking a loss. He'll wait for the important fight if he can get one.

 

I hope he makes lots of money and does not get ripped-off by boxing criminals. Take a look at all the bad decisions going on for one thing!

 

I recently read a interview with Pirog, he says he doesnt care that much about being a champ but he wants to make good fights and he wants to fight in the us to create a fanbase, his favo fighter is ray leonard and he wants people to remember him.
He and sturm should fight in vegas, but sturm has his own agende with the wba. I feel sorry for pirog that he is stuck, he needs to make a lot of noise.
