Took like 3 minutes for him to finish. I basically asked him what it was like to be inches away from the action when Kelly KO'ed Jermain last September. His answer was so indepth & accurate that I was speechless. I was talking on the phone to Steve Smoger! :smoke
Listen to this crap by Dibella Said DiBella, Taylor's promoter, "I'm confident that the next time [Pavlik is] doing the chicken dance, he's not going to finish the round." Chicken dance... From a blow to the back of KP's head that sent him flying, ya dumb *******! I guess no one cares what a seasoned pro ref like Smoger had to say about the KO in the 1st fight.
Pavlik's chicken dance looked a lot better than Jermain's crumpled carcus after Smoger stopped the fight.
I said to him, when KP hit JT with that right hand, saw he hurt him, hit him with another 1-2 & that right hand really hurt him & backed him into the corner & then finished him, what do you recall about that sequence? He said it was one of the most intense fights he's ever ref'ed. At times he heard the crowd roaring but when that series of punches occured in the fight, he was so focused, knowing at any minute it could be over, that the crowd noise just dissappeared. He could see JT was hurt & when KP got on top of him in the corner, he saw KP miss a few (which he did) & then land a monster right uppercut followed by a left uppercut & then the left hooks to start Taylor to slump & thats when he took over & jumped in. He said it happened so fast & so decisively that he knew no count was needed & that the fight was over right there. I was kinda excited listening to him & I know he said more, but thats about all I remember unfortunately. I was hoping some of you guys were listening. He really took his time with his answer & it was super detailed in his description. He also said he is a retired municipal court judge now & is full time ref'ing. It was just cool to talk to him & his recollection of the event really brought me back to that night in AC last September. :!:
It Was Valentines Day....hmmmm.... I Was Busy Doin What................? Hahahahaha.....She Wanted The Pole!
I missed the entire show!:| Couldn't get the interner connection. I was so pissed. They probably talked about the rematch for 1/2 the show. But like I said, it was cool talking to Smoger. And the way he detailed each & every little facet of what happened in a matter of 10 seconds was amazing. He's a lucky guy to be a top world class ref & be right there next to the action. Where do I sign up to be a ref?
No doubt!!! He was also just inches away from the action when Kelly took down Miranda too. Hell of a Ref and lucky guy.:deal
Ya know, I forgot all about that. He even mentioned KP's KO of Miranda, but can't recall what kind of comparison he tried to make between the 2 fights. Kellys going for his 10th KO in a row! DAMN...
