In this instance I agree with you, N'goudjo is a good mandatory who should have been granted an immediate rematch by the IBF. However Paulie had the rematch obligation to N'Dou.

Perhaps if rematch clauses were outlawed for title fights - regardless of whether a guy is a voluntary or mandatory challenger.

Where I see Buncey's point is when you get a ridiculously bad mandatory - it happens regularly, examples to follow....... and the fight is almost pointless, in boxing terms - where it is better for fans & fighters alike for a guy to vacate.

The Sky and HBO hype machines do boxing nor boxers any good, whatsoever. It doesn't need Jim Lampley or Glenn McCrory to tell me who a top young prospect is, fans can figure that out for themselves. Taking 2 rounds to KO a bum is NOT better than going a full 8 rounds with a respectable trialhorse - nor should it ever be made out to be the case.

 

Yes! Ngoudjo and Ngoudjo fans - because he was robbed and his opponent got to fight Hatton for a hell of a lot of dosh, as "punishment".

A better question would be: Does anyone really want to see Hatton fight Malignaggi, a guy who had to be helped by the judges to have as many "Ws" against N'dou and Ngoudjo? Bunce will hype Paulie to the heavens, of course, because he is Hatton's opponent, but then, he always does, doesn't he?

 

Given that hatton-Malinaggi is PPV and main event at a Vegas Casino, I'd say theres a fair bit of interest in the fight. Assuming Malinaggi fights to get paid, its an easy call for him. Boxing isn't "fair" esp. for the likes of Ngoudjo (who, lets not forget, still has a shot at the vacant title) but it never has been and I'm not going start wringing my hands over it now.

 

I never heard him complaining when Lockett got to fight Pavlik; in fact I remember Bunce hyping Lockett like mad! Oh, sorry, I forgot, different rules apply in this case.

So you have this guy, Bunce, hyping the right people and making a fool of himself analysing fights (e.g Haye v. Macca), and I should be impressed? His show wasn't even funny in an over-the-top way today...I was disappointed!:bart

Firstly, remember that any fight involving Hatton would be huge; Paulie has nothing (or very little) to do with it, although, granted, the fact that he's American helps a bit! And secondly, GazOC, mate, of course we shouldn't worry too much about boxing being corrupt and life unfair, but what's the sense of actually praising this state of affairs, as Bunce just did, with so much glee? :huh

Well there is an element of hypocrisy I must say.

Let's face it, Lockett was only the mando because he was an SN fighter. Boxrec rankings and IBO aren't perfect, but a tad more accurate than those of the (cough) Warren Boxing Organisation - I think Boxrec and IBO had him in the lower reaches of the top 50, which seemed about right.

 

TBH Paulie need Hatton to earn big but I think Hatton needs Pauli in order to bump up the casino site fee and the USA TV money. Its probably the biggest fight at 140 for either guy.

When you're a fighter like Njougdo you've got to take the chance when you get it, rightly or wrongly he didn't get the decision but there was no way he was going to get a second shot at Mallinaggi with Hatton waiting in the wings.

 

Just face it.......

Hatton is a guaranteed payday.

Paulie will be beaten into next week by somebody pretty soon, taking the cynical view, he may as well have it done by Hatton - because he is the consensus #1 and brings a **** load of cash to the table.

Hatton also needs Paulie to a degree - a 'name' in the eyes of the Americans.

 

I like Buncey's Boxing Hour, and they get good guests every week, whether it's on the phone or actually there. But...

But they said Haye and Barrett would be in the studio together, they weren't.

They said the other week Calzaghe and Jones would be in the studio, and they weren't.

Just don't say sh*t if sh*t ain't happening. :good

 

They need to tone down the hype a little though, because they are approaching levels reserved only for Sky and HBO.

I like Setanta for what it is - rather than what it seems to be getting like (if you get me).

The fact that they are prepared to mention Sky and ITV fighters is also pleasing.

Less of Haye though - great that he is, we have seen enough TALKING and want some FIGHTING.

 

Buncey was hilarious on todays show, big up to him!
Haye seemed very relaxed, and the humble response was a bit unhaye-like!
But very tight show..well done Bunce!

 

I thought the IBF were ordering another rematch - I didn't realise N'Dou was a 'contractual' rematch.

But your suggestion is spot on. Doubtful it would ever happen mind.

End of the day, whatever the IBF or any other organisations do, it doesn't really matter. We all know they make the decisions that suit them. They are no moral guardians of the sport.

They probably just don't want Hatton vacating again.

 

Fellas. It's a business. How the hell have the IBF helped anybody or anything?
HBO would say no, fans would say. Get real. The purists argument is right but that does not make it right.
Come on fellas. I've been trying to help you all see how boxing REALLY works.

Bunce, it was all good last week, you have to take the rough with the smooth fella

People on this board do tend to be quite harsh

 

It's a good watch. Enjoy it and if you don't, just switch it off or (like you say) get your money back.
Is a bit too much Haye though. But if he's over one week announcing the opponent. Then the next he's in town with the opponent ... he's an easy guest.
Doubt Frank will be offering the show too many guests after this week.
