I can't recall a fighter's stock rising as quickly as Ward's after the Kessler fight. Not to take away from the fact that he WAS kicking Kessler's ass, but it almost seemed like a hometown advantage, a few headbutts (accidental of course), and some horrific cuts added up to a foregone conclusion for many in the days and weeks after the fight.

Stylisitically, Ward doesn't have a bad matchup in the tourney. That doesn't mean he'll win every fight, but it does give him the best shot at winning it all. People focus on the wrong things too many times. If you want to put all this emphasis on cuts and hometown advantage, go right ahead. It's just going to lead to more incorrect predictions.

On a side note was Andre Ward adopted? I seen his father was a big muscular white guy which was very surprising to me. As I was almost sure he was black looking at him.

He can do a lot of different things in the ring. What makes him so difficult to fight is his awkwardness (boy is he ugly to watch) and i'm afraid he will be in the final, more than likely to win this tournament but i'm still pullin for Abraham

Ward is half black, half white.

I think Dirrell will be where Ward is now when they fight and Dirrell beats him.:good

Could be, but my money is on Ward proving too awkward and coming out four rounds ahead.

Call me crazy but I think Kessler vs. Ward II is an intriguing one on neutral ground or in Denmark.

He just has something about him that tells you he has talent and isn't another hypejob. And him moving up to light heavy in the olympics instead of his usual middleweight, just so his fellow americans could have a chance at winning in middle. AND he won olympic gold. That isn't easy no matter how you put it. Even though I don't approve how he fought Kessler, he still showed some skills.

But I still think that Kessler could put up a better fight if he wasn't distracted to the headbutts and the hostel crowd.

Anyway lets see in his next fight how he does and we can take it from there. I don't believe that it is fair if you automatically go to the top just by beating 1 top fighter. I don't consider Green a top fighter yet, so it might not count as much if he wins that either. But after Ward - Dirrell we might have a better answer

I think Kessler will do better in a rematch as he will know what to expect this time around. I don't think that he will necessarily win, but he will have a better showing (think Mosley - Forrest II). If either of those 2 won I would be happy.

On Andre Wards site it says his father was "an Undefeated Heavyweight Champion". Champion of what?

"All of Andre’s fights are dedicated to Frank."

I don't want to take away from the way Ward fought, and I favor him in a rematch regardless of where it takes place, but it really seemed to me that Kessler didn't like the hostile crowd. Some guys (like Tszyu) seem to get off on fighting in a hostile environment, some guys can't take it. Kessler seemed off his game from the outset.

Yeah Bradley has also proven himself. But I don't think either of them will be big attractions because they lack the knockout power that make them attractive to the average viewer.

If Abraham would win the Super Six and I believe that he would probably need a knockout in each fight to win (which is very possible because he really has a punchers chance) then he would be a bigger star than Ward and Dirrell because people se them as more boring
