They were caught when the victims reported them. The guy and his roommate was beaten up by Rocky and murphy. They had presumably gone back to their tents and Rocky and murphy had behaved as if they had been there all night until murphy was discovered to have a fountain pen on him from one of the guys. Rocky took officers to a bush where he said the wallet must have fell out of his pocket on his way back into camp and it was there. Rockys story was they took the wallet for identification so they could report the men for being homosexuals but since they took the whole wallet -money included- it didn’t work.

    Point taken.

Seems there is more dirt on him than previously known...but not enough to quite eclipse the excellent example Rocky made with the rest of his life.

This new story has been deliberately left out from everything I have read before. But it is true. There are mug shots to prove it. There could be more to the incident or it could have simply been an uncharacteristic silly mistake gone completely wrong. Fascinating stuff. For sure a turning point in his life.

After the time he got for the incident (reduced from seven years to two) Rocky stayed on in the army long enough to officially work what would have been a dishonourable discharge into an honerable one.

I never gave two shits, and was never more of an admirer of his boxing abilities due to who he was out of the ring. That’s fairy tale stuff.

You’re telling me that Foreman’s past as a bully should effect the viewpoints of those who think he was a great boxer?

Countless successful heavyweight boxers were bullies, came from rough backgrounds, and did things they would later regret.

His ranking as a power puncher just decreased in my book, and I no longer think his over right hand is as good as I used to.

    Despicable....

You never know, among some people this new story might improve Rockys rating as a “bad ass”. If it counts for anything let’s see he features in the next thread about what champion was the scariest dude?

After all we already had somebody boasting about Adonis Stevenson’s pimp credentials..

Do we really expect our champions to be angels? Not Johnson, not Dempsey nor Tunney, not Liston nor Ali... Not the Rock.

    Only Maske.

    You missed Wlad.

I think I can be unanimous in stating that the man is as close to saintly as any personage since the late great JC.

It's a near certainty that he never even entertained a bad thought.

Saintly recognition usually has to wait until after death, but I'm sure an exception will be made in this Godly Ukranian's case.

Expect his HOF induction and canonization to occur simultaneously.

i always thought this was pretty much common knowledge tbh. I read a long time back he was stationed in wales and got into a fight with australian soldiers. Cant remember if a court martial was mentioned in fairness .

Not sure if it was the same piece but it also said Rocky had a speed ball just above his bunk and lay for hours hitting it when he was in bed. Reckoned that built up his strength round his shoulders and arms
