Yeah, I use to watch Frank "The *******" Fletcher fight on NBC sports world with Marv Albert and Ferdie Pacheco calling the action in the early 80s........... I have Fletcher versus "Roldan & Mugabi" on tape....... Sorry to say that Frank Fletcher got KO'd in both fights.......... I use to have copies of Fletcher versus "Green & Scypion" on file but they've gotten lost or taped over since the time has passed....... Dropping the nod to Willie Scypion is what blew Fletcher's title shot in 1983.......

Davidson would have had like 7 inches on him though

Dwight Davidson was a guy with skill but poor-ass management....... A tall dude who never signed for a major fight.......... Christ, I only saw him fight once....... Davidson was also kinda' old during his prime fighting days..... D.D. was easily between 30 to 35 when he was ranked....... He was done as a contender / pretender by 1986 or so.......

Depends on which Davison shows up-the one who manhandled Curtis Parker on Friday Night Fights (much to the delight of ringside spectator Ali), or the lazy ass slacker who intentionally blew his shot at Hagler by deliberately sleepwalking against Sibson for an easy payoff. (I think Bonehugger Smith studied Davison's performance in that snowjob to prepare for Tyson.)

frank fletcher was one of the toughest middleweights of the early 80's, a fightter who ducked no. Their was no finess to his game, just straight forward aggression. He also seemed to be immuned to pain and as I recall his front teeth were loosend in bout and he pulled them out during the fight!

He was not among the elite of the class but was not to be underestimated. His career had a sad end when he was outmuscled and badly beaten by juan "domingo" roldan.

I remember he used to say ''I like it when the pain comes,I do not come here to do ballet i come to fight '' says it all about his all action style no defense just very good T.V

What I remember the most was how Scypion just seemed so much more physically stronger than Fletcher in that fight.

Speaking of physically stronger. Wilford got the title shot & was kayoed in four by Marvin Hagler.

Scypion was a good middleweight, while Hagler was great......... Still, I think Scypion froze in his title shot of 1983....... W.S. looked tight and unsure of himself against Hagler on HBO.......

Scypion reminds me of what happened to Jerry"The Bull" Martin. Martin like Scypion beat a streaking fighter. In this case it was James Scott. But in the earned tittle shot was stopped. Eddie Mustafa Muhammed stopped Jerry in the tenth.

He's not, Bill's just a douche bag who seemingly can't make five posts without being disrespectful to a fighter.

Your correct, just that he lost his teeth in a jail fight and pulled them out. He stayed in and out of jail before he became a popular fighter. Idk about after his retirement.

This was back when the middleweight division was a minefield of talent. With only one champion (Marvin), fighters actually had to earn their shot. Fletcher, Green, Scypion, Davison, Hamsho, Roldan, Sibson and all on US network TV...
