    Was a fine champion with excellent boxing skills but hardly anyone ever talks about him.

    Yes, Roman was an excellent fighter.

    imo, at least as good as any of the more recent mexican greats like barrera, Morales or Marquez.

    Was he a saftey first boxer who used alot of lateral movement?I was thinking about getting some of his bouts as I have seen only short clips of him.

    He was more of a technically sound boxer/puncher than a safety first pure boxer. Very good technician. I'd like to have seen a prime Watanabe and Roman go at it.
