Anyone remember Mitchell Smith?

You'd probably get more of a response in the British forum on this but in terms of Smith, I seen him box on the Cleverly v Krasniqi undercard at Wembley arena some years back now, around that time he was touted as a big prospect.

My take on it was that the hype he was getting seriously went to his head and he thought he was far better than he was. He made himself look an absolute clown in the build up to the George Jupp fight and then got massively humbled when Jupp beat him.

After that it appears he's been on a downward spiral and has had his demons but he did have talent, so hopefully he can get his weight down and get his life back on track through boxing.

 

I have to echo what Furey says in the above post regarding smiths pro career up to the jupp fight.
He seems to have seriously changed his attitude now tho and in a recent interview i watched i like what I heard and saw.
He's still capable of giving it a go as he isn't too old and if he can get himself to a natural fighting weight I see him achieving his dreams. Which would be to secure a house for himself and give it one last go. His words.
All achievable for a man with his ability imo

It’s great to see him back, but I can’t believe how heavy he is.

I was expecting big things back in 2014-2015.

The Jupp fight really derailed his career.

I wish him well in his comeback.

He’s a great talent.

 

I was a big fan of Smith. Seriously thought he was going places. Evidently had dedication issues outside the ring, sadly
