Just watched this again. To this day one of the most disgracefull refereeing jobs in the history of boxing. Ried got wsrned almost everytime he landed on otkke. Its hilarious and blood boiling at the same time.:lol:

The only thing in recent memory at a similar that even comes close was the referee in Helenius-Chisora issuing similar warnings and waving his hand in Chisora's face as Helenius was throwing punches.

And haters are still asking why RJJ didn't want to go fight in Ottke's backyard.

yeah its well documented that Ottke was a fake, at least outside Germany that is (and discluding Bailey's opinion, which goes without saying).

Yeah, with a ref warning Reid for punching, you can understand why. Reid should have won that fight.

Well we can't say for sure. All we can say is Ottke really pulled through in the end.

I still think Ottke could beat him in a fair bout.

He's just ahead of Reid in skills/talent.

A lot of people seem to think the judges were as bad as the ref, but the truth is Reid's work rate dropped off in the 2nd half of the fight. Reid did get a lot of grief from the ref, which probably affected his performance, but the judges got it right.

It's a shame Ottke's career was rigged, as he was actually pretty decent. He knew exactly how to dictate the pace and make the opponent fight his kind of fight. His footwork and ability to get in and out of range were very good indeed.

One of the most crooked careers imaginable.

Theres possibly 4-5 "wins" on his umblemished record that he lost.

Reid lost 4 rounds, he was docked a point for ottke headbutting him all the time and when he dropped Ottke it wasn't counted.

In a neutral country Ottke would have been docked points and the KD counted.
Reid whooped him despite gassing in the last 1/4 of the fight.
