I am a relative noob to boxing and got into the sport around 8 years ago, and on these boards and elsewhere on the interweb, Lewis, and the 90's in general, had a very, very different feel.

    Who remembers?

Yep. Always the same, you miss them when their gone...he was the last undisputed HW who beat the current man at HW. That may have something to do with it.

i never thought lewis was not respected during his time (since im not into boxing magazines and forums/news when i was younger so i was not aware). and now, people have been clamoring for him to come back lol.

i was a big fan of lewis when i was in high school. used to watch his fights, and tbh it did not bore me. it was fun.

He was constantly pitted against Holyfield and Tyson.

If you agreed that he could beat either of those in their prime ("PRIME") then you were obviously ******ed in some sigificant clinical way.

    Now it is socially acceptable.

    I always did it.

Lennox Lewis beat every man he faced in the pro ring. He is second only to Ali in my book

Look at the way an old uninterested and out of shape Lennox gave Vitali the hardest fight of his life. Lewis is easily Britain's greatest ever fighter and on the ATG HW champions.

Everyone thinks that their era is the exception to the rule.

I think that Klitschko for example, will never touch Lewis because we do not even know which we are talking about.

You cannot group fighters together in couples, lest others do the same. Example: Lewis always ruled the division. Before he beat Holyfield he ruled with Holyfield.

Nevertheless, it is like I say.

Everyone thinks that they are the exception, and thus they are barred from judging.

Compared to Holy and Tyson (even Bowe), he wasn't that exciting a fighter and was a tough sell in the US. I remember he was also marketed as "the thinking man's fighter" with commercials involving chess and tea (I **** you not). Not one of HBO's brighter moves.

He caught alot of the same **** the Klits get today: safety first, only opens up when sure to win, not charismatic at press conferences. He's by far the superior to either K-bro, but parrallels, at least in North America, are undeniable.

I actually wanna see a prime Lewis vs Tyson or Boe or Hollyfield.

His win over Razor was impressive.
