Since the atrocious scoring from Byrd is still fresh in our minds, does anyone else remember the equally terrible score for Sergio Martinez vs. Paul Williams 1? That fight was a legitimately close fight that also could have gone both ways or a draw. But one guy actually scored 119-110 to Paul Williams which is an absolute travesty. This isn't anything new, but it really does show that these judges are hard to trust.
As I recall, when they read the scores Martinez made a face and was chuckling. They'd just shafted him even harder in his previous bout against Kermit Cintron. He knocked Cintron out, the ref started the fight back up, and he was given a draw in a fight he'd dominated.
Yea, and who was judging the night Martinez knocked out Cintron, with the ref giving hin time to recover instead of counting him out. Then easily won the decision to only get a draw.. lol
Martinez was consistently shafted throughout his career like when the WBC was desperate to give Chavez Jr their belt
And that was in Atlantic City. And the fight with Cintron was in Florida. So it's not like head scratching scorecards only happen in Vegas.
