Just watched his fight with Roger Mayweather. Great, great fight......anyone remember anything about him? I heard he outpunched Ray Oliviera (thats amazing in its own right), and defeated the tough Ricky Meyers.......he also seemed to fade away after 1994 I believe? Anyone with any memories or opinions on him?

Very underrated fighter. Great chin too, some of the shots Laporte nailed him with were real bombs.

He had to retire after a sparring session with Mosley where he received some form of brain damage.

This guy was a helluva of a fighter, his win over bollilo gonzalez was probably his best win, bollilo was heavily hyped and punched real hard but zack took his best and beat him in an exciting fight he had a great chin and unstoppable stamina, hes a local guy next city from me last i heard he received a key to the city of azusa.I saw one of his sessions with mosley and they were pretty heated and he gave as much as he got.I also met him at the wbhof and he looked good but like a heavywt pretty big guy for a junior welter

    Sadly Brain Aneurysms.

When he came back in 91, he was totally a different fighter.

Carlos Gonzales was looking like the heir apparent to JCC for many a good judge, and thus Padilla was merely lined up as another victim.

Padilla was a sensation that night, although, perhaps his lack of hurtful punches may of cost him against the very best, it would of been fun to of found out for sure.

OT: Talking of Padilla/Mayweather anyone remember the can't miss next boxing superstar on the undercard; Pepe Reily?

Yey Pepe Reilly is another local guy from the LA area Glendale to be exact he was good friends with Oscar and could really punch in the amatuers, heard he got burned out since he boxed since a real young age, didnt have to much discipline as a Pro. I know people who know him and they said he was a partyer. He was a pretty good puncher, but when he turned pro he ended up losing to a couple of guys that were really just suppose to pad his record. His pro career was a let down think he went something like 16-4
