I just wanted to say I have a lot of respect for Andrzej Fonfara. He seems like the type of guy who probably would've been really popular had he spent his pro career fighting in Poland or Germany. He could've played it safe and gone after a belt like the WBA's "regular" title and become the next Juergen Braehmer ... defending a paper title a hundred times against a bunch of "okay" fighters. Instead, he took risks. He crossed the Atlantic. He fought Glen Johnson, Gabriel Campillo, challenged Adonis Stevenson for the "world" title (and fought well), and now he's facing another tough challenge in Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Is anyone rooting for him this weekend, or does anyone give Fonfara a shot in this one?
He showed guts against Stevenson and had his great moments. Plus Chavez is coming off quite a layoff. I think if his chin holds up and he boxes good, he could give Chavez problems. That being said....even if he wins the fight, chances are he gets robbed. Just ask Brian Vera
i can't see how chavez can win. he isn't overly powerful, he can't box for ****, he is moving up two divisions, and he is coming off a fairly long layoff.
I want Chaves to see Chaves-Froch. But then I want Fonfara to win to screw the WBC over for making another title because of this fight. Also if a Fonfara wins maybe we will get Froch-Degale!
So I actually like Fonfara, but I'm also interested in seeing JC Jr in a couple of other fights, so I'm rooting for both, but leaning JC Jr.
Suprised they'd take such a risky fight vs. Fonfara when every man and his dog around Chavez weight class wants to fight him for bigger money.
Let's not forget Fonfara was getting outboxed and outclassed by Campillo for majority of their fight before he managed to know him out. JCCjr has one of the best China in boxing, and he's going to come after fonfara, I honestly don't see how he can win this
Would love to see Fonfara beat Chavez jr. His father is one of my all time fav's but Jr. is a fkn joke.
