Chavez has been outweighing his middleweight opponents by 20lbs and still doesnt look like a devasting puncher. he will really need to land consistently to stop fonfara. and fonfara hasnt got a bad punch himself. id imagine they would both be 190lbs in the ring.
:yepIf Chavez obliterates Fonfara, that'll make Adonis look bad in comparison especially if Chavez stops him, which I think he will. Also it'll make Froch Chavez a more interesting fight and hype up the audience a little more for it, because after all Chavez will be the guy who one upped Adonis. So when Froch beats his ass, it'll make Carl look all the more impressive. Because Carl will have beaten the guy who crushed the guy that Stevenson had problems with. How's that for twisted logic.:nut
people forget that Stevenson had injured his left hand at the end of the first round against the Fonfara elbow. after, Stevenson did not have the same power during the fight.
Chavez will walk through Fonfara's best shots and walk him down, pulverize his ribs and brutally KO him late. And everyone will be like. Holy ****:admin
I'm not exactly rooting for Fonfara but I do think the fight can go to cards and Fonfara might actually pull off an upset. Fonfara is kind of like the Martin Murray of LHW and I'd imagine only the GGG of LHW, being Kovalev, could knock him out. Chavez Jr is a great fighter though, if he can pull off a KO or a decent UD(116-112 and better), it will be very impressive.
I could see that. Chavez at his best is definitely capable of what you describe. But it's been a while since Chavez looked REALLY good against anyone. When I first heard about this fight, I just thought Chavez would win easy. But how many years has it been since he won easily? The Manfredo fight four years ago? Other than that, Chavez Jr. doesn't seem to have an easy night against anyone I'd like to see Chavez-Froch, too. But, I'd kind of like to see Fonfara score the upset. Then again, if Fonfara won, maybe people wouldn't look at it as an upset. Maybe, in hindsight, it would seem obvious. Maybe Chavez should be the underdog? I think anything can happen Saturday.
Fonfara is good, but he's got a giraffe neck that could be his undoing in this fight. I don't think Chavez can bully him that much, so this fight may be fought at mid-range for a good portion of the fight. I think this fight can go either way...except the judges already have it for Chavez Jr if the fight goes 12 rounds.
Fonfara can fight I'm a fan but it's that long body of his that worries me jr got a big target to hit there ! Hope Fonfara beats the brat though !
me too...no way should a NO defense, glassed jawed fighter last this long at the top, esp considering he's lost several big fights.atsch
I'm really rooting for Fonfara and truely believe he will beat the son of the legend in most viewers eyes... but I also believe Jr will get the undeserved nod from the judges like we've seen happen before.
The move down in weight won't do him any good. I'll be rooting for him but he's going to lose this one.
I am in Toronto on business and am spending the weekend here.Any Canucks know where I can catch this fight on Canadian tv?
