Anyone see a pattern with Freddie Roach?

He's **** now.

He's got no idea of defence or making adjustments.

It's just throw **** loads of punches and hope for the best

Khan made the right move going to Virgil Hunter, a down to earth scholar of the sweet science who will make him a boxer

 

People say it's khans fault, that Khan is stupid, that Khan makes mistakes.

The truth is, roach got hold of khan when he was a young kid and could be taught.

And roach saw khans handspeed and trained him to fight like pacquiao. Wrong move, pacquiao makes the same mistakes, it's flaws in the roach style.

Virgil hunter teaches it all, inside and outside fighting, defence, spoiling, survival skills, everything.

I just hope roach didn't ruin khan permenantly, because Hunter will teach khan to avoid his weaknesses and use his strengths, khan will be a hit and don't get hit fighter

 

I was surprised to hear Roach beforehand insisting that Pac had to get the knockout. Seems strange that someone who has suffered terribly health-wise from boxing should have his fighters in brutal sparring sessions and then send them out to kill or be killed.

Once the chin is cracked, its never the same again......Manny would be wise to give it up now IMO, but if he wants one last fight, the 5th fight, he has to move away from Freddie Roach, because last night, you could tell he was a Freddie Roach fighter, it looked like Amir Khan in there.

NO REGARD for defence, and it backfired AGAIN. Freddie isnt the trainer or man he was, Parkinsons is ripping him apart, he cant give the information to the fighter between rounds that the fighter desperately needs. Manny's other trainer is just shouting out fanboy support, and not advice. Freddie used to point Pacquiao in the right direction during a fight, and he just cant do it anymore.

Pacquiao is (now) a fighter with no discipline or idea, and got exposed, and IMO worse than Ricky Hatton did. WHAT A BRUTAL KO IT WAS.

It confirmed to me all along what I already knew, Manny stood no chance against Floyd Mayweather, because if Marquez hadn't of done this, Floyd would have done it a long time ago. Walking onto that left/right check hook like Hatton did. Pacquiao would have been finished by Mayweather fighting on the back foot.....a class above.

 

Freddie Roach is the most over-rated trainer in the sport. Floyd Sr and Roger Mayweather were both spot on about him, he gets WAY too much praise.

He has no idea how to teach defence, his fighters are left wide open to big counter shots and it's a huge weakness that other fighters and trainers are learning to exploit. Khan got knocked the **** out and now Pacquiao, both validate the point.

I know it's not nice to say but his Parkinsons has worsened and it's definitely affected him. He can't seem to hold it together to give his fighter instructions in between rounds.

That aside though, Freddie Roach is not as good as people think.

 

Again Roach sends his fighter to go out and KO, and gets KO himself.

The success got to Manny's head to, he was beating JMM up.

 

So just how long has Freddie Roach been ****? He wasn't **** when Manny was one of the top P4P fighters, and he wasn't **** when he took on the task of rebuilding Amir Khan after his previous trainer did such a great job.

I don't recall too much critisism of the guy in the past, so either I missed all the "Roach is ****" threads, or he just suddenly went bad recently.

 

So much ignorance is some posters, it's unreal.

 

Yeh I can see a pattern that he creates multiple world champions. The trainer can only do so much he can't get in there if manny didn't keep his hand up and made an error for a split second it's hardly roachs fault

 

this doesn't change anything with respect to khan he's still a mediocre level fighter compared to the elite of the sport, so stop getting overexcited you jumped up bald ******

 

I think you're stretching the point to call this a 'pattern'. It'd need to happen a couple more times for me to convinced there was some pattern emerging, and even then it'd require closer examination.

This is boxing at the top level, when you've got closely matched guys, and guys that are great fighters that can also punch, you're going to see close decisions and you're going to see the odd bad knockout.

 

Roach's tactics seems to be throw and hope something lands. Roach's losing streak continues.

 

Freddie Roach is the most one dimensional trainer in the game at world level. HOWEVER, I must also add that, its even more so in recent times, because he struggles to get a grip of his fighters in the corner. Thats not his fault, thats parkinsons, and its no coincidence his fighters are losing.

His fighters control themselves, and are loose cannons, Freddie used to direct them in the right direction when he wasnt having such a bad time with the parkinsons. But since that has worsened, so has his ability to train/teach/direct his fighters, before, during and after fights.

Its sad, but its no coincidence his fighters are losing.

Manny Pacquiao was always a come forward full throttle fighter, but he did have some form of defence and care, unlike Ricky Hatton for instance.

Last night he was alright on the attack, he was winning the fight, but got caught flush plenty of times by the smarter more technical, more patient fighter. We havent seen that Manny Pacquaio in the 3 previous fights, this is a worse Pacquiao, and he has declined in the last few fights, there is no doubt about that. And even pacquiao admitted carelessness.

But Freddie isnt helping, and he isnt pointing the fighter down the right avenue, simply because he struggles to speak nowadays. He is silent in that corner between rounds, and that isnt what a fighter at the very top needs. Some fighters might try to play down the role of the trainer, like Wladimir seemed to do. But they shouldnt be taken for granted, they are so so so important, because they only have to whisper in your ear the way to go in a 200mph fight, and its enough to change the fighter, and change the fight.
