****ing hell - you realise this isn't EastSideSkipping, don't you?

So now physical endurance and stamina aren't athletic attributes, but skipping is?

So in your book a world class marathon runner isn't an athlete because they just rely on their stamina? I bet they can't skip for ****, either.

What about a sprinter? They're not athletic because they just rely on their speed?

    You're talking nonsense.

Right, so on the list you provide it includes the marathon. I suppose those guys aren't athletic because they just rely on endurance and cardio.

So you ducked the point. Usain Bolt - no stamina - loads of speed - athletic or not?

I've always taken an athletic boxer being quick footed, fast reflexes and hand speed, someone you could see playing another sport with ease. See Roy Jones Jr as an example. In that case Froch and his crude style are definitely not athletic looking. Some people in this thread think simply being an athlete means you are athletic, but I guess it's all semantics.

It is an athletic event but only really heptathletes and decathletes can really claim to be all rounders and pure athletes.

Most have a trade off between athletic attributes.

Marathon runners are usually very poor at every other event. They can do one event well and suck at most so not really very athletic no.

You are loading statements with negative presumption - if you think that changes the validity of my point then its you that is the later

Speed and reflexes are clearly athletic attributes, along with things like strength, stamina, balance, recovery, endurance . . .

Athlete's just have them in difference quantities depending on their genetics/their specialised events.

What was your point, asking me if I thought a guy I had just acknowledged as an athlete about 10 minutes is an athlete, by more or less copying part of my post word for word?

    Was that it?

So what event would froch do?

I did 100, 200, 400, long jump, high jump and shot

anything over 800 m and i was just too big to beat the little guys who carry less weight.

    Am i athletic or not?
