Cool story bro. Your posts are up there with some of the most stupid **** I've ever read on ESB/some of the best trolling I've seen in the last two days (delete as applicable)
So because sprinters cant do endurance they are not athletic - right! Go tell someone in the pub usain bolt is not athletic because he sucks at endurance events
Froch's athleticism is not at elite level in the world of sports. But his brute strength and aerobic capacity is on elite level in the super-middle weight division. He reminds me about of Ken Norton, with his awkard style. Carl Froch is a athlete, his sprint technique and speed looked quite decent when they did a training segment on ITV before the Pascal fight. Froch is just not gifted in the speed, and motor skills department. His agility is not elite level but, is satisfactory when he has used it! against Abraham etc... He's not the athlete Joe Calzaghe was or pound for pound David Haye. Be interesting to find out how strong he is though, he seems heavy handed and physical very strong. He throws punches that look really slow, but somehow..? then land and move his opponents.
:rofl @ logic Froch beats loads of world class fighters >he's not athletic >look at this video of Mayweather skipping >would he do the 100m, 200m, 400m, high jump or shot put atsch
Froch has more than 'cardio and his chin'. In a combat sport, there are a large amount of factors that contribute to success. I would say that Froch's mentality is a big strong point for him in most of his fights. The mental aspect of boxing is critical. (Look at Judah for an example -- so much physical abilities, and yet falls short in the mental area, which negatively impacted him as a total fighter.) Froch has the kind of mental toughness, constant aggression and killer instinct that is difficult to teach. Without it, he wouldn't have beaten Taylor, Kessler or Dirrell. In terms of physical tools, Froch definitely has power. He also makes use of a long jab, which was an important weapon in his last fight. He doesn't have fast hands, but he does have the strength to rough opponents up, and his punches lack polish and finesse but he can be surprisingly effective with them when he attacks with the kind of flurries that broke Bute down and leaping shots that he uses in most fights.
Totally bogus representation. Those were MY events i did. PBF is just a short arse - if he was tall he would be awesome at athletics. Froch is 6 foot 1 and I bet sucks at most events because of poor balance, speed, coordination etc
Fair point but its blatantly obvious who has the better speed, coordination and balance. Burden of proof is on you. Everyone else saw a guy do a 360 after throwing his own punch and also nearly trip over his own legs
So we've moved from 'Froch isn't athletic at all' to 'the 147lb best fighter of his generation has better speed, coordination and balance than Carl Froch'.
So saying that someone isn't athletic, and then comparing them to the greatest athlete in the sport is just a shade of grey? Cool.
In reality, athleticism applies to anyone who excels at any aspect of athletics. My opinion is that the meaning has been skewed very heavily towards explosive criteria due to an obsession with athletic testing in the NFL and NBA, both sports which tend to favor explosive abilities. So when people say Froch isn't athletic, the skewed meaning is that he wouldn't have a good vertical jump, 40 yard dash etc. The truth is that Froch has other physical attributes, that if tested specifically for boxing (which lo and behold - is the sport he is competing in!) then he would obviously have some attributes that set him apart from the rest.
