Who was winning at the time of the stoppage? Had Daniel been dominating?

The recaps this morning hardly say anything. :-(

    Got this from another forum..

    ---------------

Daniel "Azuquita" Jimenez dramatically knocked out compatriot Marcos "El Tigre" Jimenez at 2:05 of the last assault to capture the WBA FEDECENTRO title, yesterday in the famous San Juan Boxing nights at a full packed Pedroin Zorrilla coliseum

In an exciting match, which at times El Tigre dominated and at times Azuquita, could not conclude with a better way that this, after the El Tigre dominate much of the assault and had Azuquita on the brink of a knockout, Azuqita came back with a nasty right hand punch that knockout EL Tigre.

"It was a big fight and I thank EL tigre for fighting me and giving me this great battle. I said I was well prepared and it showed, "said Azuquita Jimenez (19-3-1, 11 KOs) after the fight.

Meanwhile, El Tigre Jimenez (16-2, 10 knockouts) said: "It was a great fight and waiting for a rematch anytime".

    ---------------

It's too bad Solo Boxeo isn't around anymore, or otherwise I'm sure they would have aired it.

    Thanks Antwuan. :good

I knew this would be a damned good fight. We really need to get some kind of grassroots thing going to get Solo Boxeo back. It's f*cking depressing that a fight like this is almost impossible to see.

I'm curious about how the fight played out, too. It appears from the Spanish translation that Marcos Jimenez may have been ahead and he nearly had Daniel Jimenez ready to go. And to get blipped with 5 seconds to go has to be a heartbreaker. I backed Marcos at +220 and thought he had a decent chance against an off balance and erratic D. Jimenez. Sounds like a heck of a fight, though.:smoke:smoke

Those were my thoughts exactly. Azuquita's defense is pretty shaky, I looked HARD at those odds and came very close to taking Marcos. But too many untested prospects have been biting the dust lately.

From the sounds of things, you definitely got your money's worth. Taking the value pays off in the long run.

Thanks, yeah I saw it as a good value play and think D. Jimenez, although tough, is on the fade. Maybe the fight will appear on youtube or something in the near future.
