Go away mate, Joe would be a NIGHTMARE for Carl, fact.

    Joe would annihilate him.

Calzaghe was a 25-year-old kid and his best win was Mark Delaney when he fought Eubank. Joe stepped up several levels to fight Eubank. It's strange that I've never heard Eubank complaining. Also, look at the trouble Eubank gave Thompson afterwards.

Why should Joe have fought Froch? What had Carl done? Calzaghe had his last fight before Froch had even beaten Pascal. Joe achieved everything he wanted to and retired. Just because Froch has done well these last years , it's unfair to criticise Joe for not fighting him. They were at different stages of their careers.

If you read my post youll see i said Joe would win.

But annihilate him? you think Joe would stop Froch?

And are you really saying Jeff Lacy and Carl Froch are on a similar par?

 Love the way you capitalised the word "NIGHTMARE" and added "fact" for extra emphasis. Must be true then :good

Decent call that, definite similarities between froch and eubank in awkwardness and toughness - and slowness

Id take Joe to win but definitely not easy. I think Joe had more class, speed and variety and could negate Carl's strengths but Carl's persistence, fitness and durability would make it competitive

Its a pity that Joe prefers to fantasy match fighters in the studio rather than have ever faced Froch level fighters in the ring when he had the chance....its all a load of woulda, coulda, shoulda with Calzaghe.

Like it's a shock he was asked. It was Sky Sports who put the question to the public.

In my opinion, Brewer, Mitchell, Lacy, Reid, Woodall, Eubank were all capable of beating Froch. Most of them certainly matched him for talent. I would also predict Bika to beat Froch.

No way are Ward and Calzaghe similar. No way.... Ward is similar to Hopkins if you ask me. Hopkins beat Calzaghe IMO. Ward beats Calzaghe.

The most used word in any Calzaghe thread is "would"....it shouldn't be "would", it should be "did". Pity.

Froch was a non entity on the world stage when Calzaghe retired and plus all Froch ever did was ***** about Calzaghe, im not surprised he didnt want to give him a payday much like Hatton v Witter.

I'm not talking about him fighting Froch, I'm speaking in general terms....Calzaghe fans always said "would" when any potential opponent of any class was ever mentioned, it sort of dispensed with the inconvenience of him having to prove it.

I remember Froch calling out Joe C and thinking he was pulling a Witter, truth is he backed it up since then and if Calzaghe and the Boxing World knew then what we know now about Froch it coulda been massive.

    Think Calzaghe would do him.

Well when you look back at fighters you are either reminiscing about their career (he did beat fighter x) which is usually for the classic forum or you are pitting them against current fighters, given Calzaghe isnt long gone there is even more of a tendency to do the latter.

When Calzaghe retired there wasnt exactly a Mayweather-Pacman, Jones-Dariuz M, Lewis- Bowe type omission on his CV. Yes we all know he fought crap for a while but he beat some top fighters also.

I do think their is a serious disparity between his record and his ability, but based on his performances and specifically his biggest fights, he beats Froch.
