    Closed Fists Open heart.

I loved it, Danny can really tell a good yarn and some of the stories about him in the past were put into perspective.

I laughed a few things he said...one notable story was just before he got into the ring to spar James Toney he heard someone in the gym yell out "look james cant get his head into the headgear, must be all the steroids":lol:

Yeah I caught some of it.

Danny is a good interviewee, and Castagnini does pretty good interviews.

    Enjoyed the bits I saw

Havent seen it myself yet, but my brother saw it and thought Green spoke a lot of crap in it. Apparently he said he got robbed in Germany during the rematch with Beyer. If that is the case, then thats pretty laughable.

I've seen it and didn't mind it. I thought most of what he said seemed pretty right.
He does come across as a bit full of himself, and he cut off Mark Castagnini too quickly. Maybe his nerves made him talk a bit too much.

    Otherwise that, I enjoyed it.

Nah he didnt really say that about the rematch. He said he lost that fair and square.

He was going on about the first fight...which he has every right to...it was a ****ing RIP OFF in the Biggest terms. He could have knocked Beyer out cold and still would have lost that. Man he smashed the **** out of Beyer that night.

Ok, fair enough, my brother told me differently, thats all.

Yeah, the first Beyer fight was a massive lost opportunity. I wonder how differently his and Mundine's career would have panned out had he got up that night.

    You're kidding, right?
    The MD call flattered Green.
I'm yet to speak, or hear from any Green fan who thought that he won that fight.

A suprising amount of American and Canadians whom I thought were fairly knowledgable scored that fight for Green or only just for Beyer.

I was a little shocked, just about every Aussie saw that fight for what it was..A clear Beyer win.

I reckon Ive watched that fight 5 times and a lot of rounds were closer than I initally thought. Danny was landing shots and out throwing Markus, just he didnt have barely on pop on them. Beyer would just wait patiently and set Danny up for a cracking counter that the crowd went crazy for, then he would stay out of trouble until the next chance came up.
These rounds, the majority of them early, could be debated to tell you the truth.

Depending on what you liked it could have been one those fights where the better man's work was not reflected by the scores just because of the way fights are scored.

For example Fighter A outboxes the **** out of Fighter B for 7 rounds but for 5 he goes to sleep...Quite possibly the judges see Fighter B just nicking each of those rounds.
Potentially you've got a situation where the superior fighter only takes the fight by a couple of points or sometimes it goes the other way.

I think the Collazo-Hatton fight is an example of this. Ricky got the flash KD and edged Collazo in more rounds but Collazo was the better fighter overall, winning his rounds more convincingly.
Maybe Green-Beyer II has similarities but it went to the right man...Green got the KD and edged Beyer in some rounds but Beyer was clearly better overall because he was more dominate in the rounds he took.

    Im not a doctor though.

At the end of the day the judges were unanimous on how close they thought that fight was, one had Beyer by 1, the other by 3 and the third of course had it even. Not silly to suggest that the scores could and probably would have been reversed if Danny had fought at home, whether he deserved it or not.

Fair play, though in saying that the scores could have been reversed had the fight been in Oz is a bit of a cry out for a hand out imo.
I think Danny knew he had lost, and to insinuate that the location of the fight was a telling matter is a bit weak, especially considering that it's universally accepted that the German judges got it right that time around.

It's like saying Tendulka's swing and miss could have been given out if the game was at the SCG, doesn't really do much for me.

he said he would have got the decision anywhere but germany.and i also thought whining about having to lose 3kg of muscle mass and having no energy after round 1 of the mundine fight was a bit of a weak excuse.no trouble with weight beyer 1 or lucas but suddenly became an issue when mundine handed his arse to him.....with that stupid haircut.as you know from our bet i went for danny now when he goes back on his word and comes out of retirement and fights mundine again i could not care less who wins.

I think its pretty fair to say that super-middleweight was a stretch for green from the start of his career, and as he got older he would have grown naturally as everyone does, the fight with mundine had to happen at super-middle and it was the biggest payday of his career. He said nothing about the weight, or other issues for months after the fight so he could hardly be accused of being a sore loser. The same green who fought beyer 1 or lucas would have given mundine a very hard night at the office indeed. Yet it was not the same green, do you think this could have had something to do with his pysical state possibly?

Danny seems like a decent bloke.Liked how he made sure his fijian opponent got a nice feed/few drinks after their fight. As he was fully aware his outclassed opponent had to fight for a living.

He still talks alot of **** and when watching the special i was left thinking WHY DOES DANNY GREEN HAVE A 2HOUR PROGRAM ON HIS CAREER????

He beats up a b level Eric Lucas gets a world title from a bloke paul briggs had already nailed and then quits..

In the middle of all that he loses twice to Beyer(yes i know he was robbed ) and in his chance to win me over he failures with a loss to the mouth Mundine.

He will never ever no matter what live that fight down..

Fighters always have excuses when they lose.

Weight issues, injuries, personal issues same old same old.

The mouth had his measure.Unfortunetly he always will.

Danny just decided to use his excuses after the dust had settled from their bout to try come across as gracious in defeat.
