Lewis is not gay or some former gay lover of his would've cashed out & written a book by now. I have no problem with gays but they should attempt to stay in the closet.
Oscar just had the biggest money fight in boxing, ever, when he fought Floyd. What is your reasoning on why Oscar is so popular? He's certainly not a thug, gangster, or a mouthy arrogant type. And yet he's one of THE most popular fighters, now, and has been for years. Let's hear your reasoning on this. Don't worry, I'll wait...............
Some past Klitschko fan responded to a post with a typo and these fools ran with it....................pathetic really. Shamrock once spelled "Vitaly" as "Vitlay" & that idiot Fightingweight has been using it ever since as a sort of statement I guess.
I ****ing love how you say Jones, Mayweather and Hopkins are "the most popular" boxers in America. Go and ask 10 people in the street to name a fighter, and about 7 will say De La Hoya, a good guy. Sure, Mayweather is popular too, but no-one is denying that bad guys can draw. And Hopkins is not a draw, never has been and never will be. Bad guys are no more popular than good guys. You need a contrast of both to draw. If everyone was Ghandi v2 there would be no interest, just like there would be in every boxer followed the examples set by Carlos Monzon.
Wald was pre-steward klitschko flopping around like a fish against sanders and brewster and Wlad is now the dominant killer robot fighter we see today. Haters are praying to see the return of Wald though :yep
that wasnt it, it was a very common mispelling, everyone was accidentally writing waldo and vitlay, in addition to other fighter misspellings as well, and i think jazzo made a thread saying, "who is this wald and vitlay?"
I am eager to hear Punisher's take on why De La Hoya is so popular, given that he has no gangsta swagger, and has probably never given his wife the first black eye. Wlad will ride the same kind of appeal that Oscar has, only Wlad is also an imposing figure at 6 foot 7, and holds a PHD. Unprecedented in this sport for a champion, much less, a unified heavyweight champion. That will be of interest to people, regardless of what Punisher fails to admit. Once the unification of the titles starts rolling, Wlad will start to break, mainstream. Before Punisher says Dude, he's not going to magically get the division wildly popular again.............Don't even waste your time posting that, cause I am not saying that. Wlad unifying will be the start to the heavies getting back on their feet, and Wlad, as off the beaten path as he is, is the prefect representative to attract interest.
I have no problem with gays but they should attempt to stay in the closet.[/quote] On the contrary, you have a problem
Right. Being on a mainstream media outlet like Jay Leno, as Wlad was some time back, is just the start of the fame this guy will garner, once he starts knocking these other titleholders out, and the division starts gaining steem.
I didn't see anyone named Wald, but when I was at the gym today I saw Wladimir Klitschko on Rome is Burning.
Yeah don't forget the new breed of testosterone that causes you to gain height and boxing skill. It's an awesome drug and it's undetectable. (moron.)
When you say "better" for the sport what exactly do you mean? If its in terms of money Tyson was a bigger draw than Lewis, Holyfield, Klitschko and Foreman. He was popular before and after prison. His attention benefitted the sport and was undoubtedly the god father of PPV. Sports writers would have you believe that his popularity was affected by his out of the ring antics but truthfully, his in the ring ability and lack of it is the only thing that affected Mike Tyson in terms of drawing power. If he kept winning he would maintain the popularity and drawing power. What people sometimes fail to understand is that these are professional athletes, they get paid to fight. End of story. They are not politicians, they dont need to be "wholesome" in order to do well in the sport. These "gangsta wannabe" boxers that you speak of are grown men who are living thier lives on thier own terms, they don't need to assimilate to mainstream society nor should they have to. What is required of them is inside the ring. I support them becuase they are who they want to be and not what society expects of them. Joe Louis's out of ring persona is so contrived that I'm disgusted by it. I appreciate Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather for acting the way they act because they were far more genuine. Joe Louis did what he was told, he assimilated to the role of the "subordinate race" by not showing his true personality whatever it may have been just so that he can be accepted by mainstream America. I've always felt that it was a crock of ****; if he wanted to be flashy and flamboyant then let him be, if he were the nice charitable guy then let him be just as long as its not contrived. As long as he was genuine. Even those "nice guys" you speak of, those that are "better" for boxing, how many posters or boxing fans would send Lennox Lewis money if he were broke? How many would volunteer thier home's to Wladimir Klitschko if he were in a time of need or help Evander Holyfield if he ended up like Gerald McClellan? My point exactly.
