Im glad it did go all the way tho, every rd was great.

Also... Chacon dominated that last rd even without the KD, he was full of adrenaline & Boza was spent, Chacon was fighting with his hands by his side, making Boza miss badly & nailing him with combinations, its hard to say didnt deserve it with a finish like that - a bit like DLH-Quartey, a lot feel Quartey won but the grand stand finish like a true champion put in by DLH/Chacon makes it hard to say it wasnt deserved even if the other guy also did enough to win - if that makes sense.

    :good

I taped it off NBC back in '83 and it is a great fight.... No doubt.... But it is also very hard to score........... Chacon gutted it out over 12 rds, but he needed a blood transfusion in the end...... I do think that Boza-Edwards scored more points overall, but I was not upset when Chacon got the nod......... The scores of 115-113; 115-112 & 117-111 all for Chacon was BULL****! I had it MUCH TIGHTER than that........ Cheers.....

I'm a gig Boza fan as you can see from my moniker. This fight got me to become a real 'boxing fan. Before this fight, I was a casual fan. I scored it round by round and came up with Boza winning 114-112. Remember, Boza also scored a knockdown.
Also, one of Chacon's knockdowns was closer to a slip. You can fault Pacheco but Chacon had like 60 stitches after the fight and the ring doctor gave him one more round more than once. It almost appeared like they told the ring doctor not to stop the fight no matter what concerning the bleeding. Usually, when a guy is cut like that they give him one more round, then stop it - Even in those days. Another interesting fact that surrounded this fight concerned boxing politics. This was believe it or not officially a non-title fight because the WBC, which was in Don King's pocket, wouldn't sanction it, even though Boza was the #1 contender, and had been for over six months. King held options on Chacon, and wanted him to fight Camacho, but Chacon opted to fight Boza for promoter Don Chagrin - for way more money. Boxing was just as politically crooked back then as today, if not moreso.

I have my tape rolling along in round 2 right now... Boza has Bobby backed against the ropes / corner....... Bobby eating leather and now is cut... Bobby counters and drops Boza.... A great round 2.......

Chacon put incredible effort into his back-to-back fights with Limon and Boza-Edwards, sheer heart.

I knew when the papers were signed that Ray Mancini at age 22 and 135 pounds of muscle was gonna walk-thru the 32 year old, 133 pound Chacon on HBO in 1984...... Well, it happened....

Mancini grossed 1.1 million bucks to Chacon's $575,000 dollar purse...... Now, here in 2010, Chacon is broke and suffering from dementia, while Mancini is set financially and in good shape...

Boza made far less $ than Chacon, but as far as I know he is okay finanically. They showed his pad in Vegas before the Terrence Ali Fight in '86, and it was modest, but had a pool. Boza seemed very level headed in the interview. He didn't make as much as some of his contemporaries, but held on to what he had. I know he sent one of his daughters to Brown University.
