I guess inactivity is ruining the sport period. None of these guys are looking sharp & crisp as they were coming up the ranks. I guess that should be expected.
Could be. Activity keeps you sharp. Old timers thought so. One fight at least every three months. But you need the motivation to do it as well and when fighters are inactive, it may say something. Freddie Roach also mentioned before with regards to Oscar that you can't be a part-time fighter and be at your best. Take for example Pac: always active compared to some others. That keeps him sharp. One problem however seems to be the PPV fights. I forget exactly how long Arum said it took, and it may depend on how big of a PPV fight it is (which depends on the figthers)....but it could take 4, 5, 6 months or so to get a fight done. With fighters, with most at the top taking longer periods off, some vary, it may make it harder to match up the "time" of when the fight should take place.
Not only the inactivity, but pair that aspect with when fighters decide to fight, the quality of the opposition is veeeeery dissappointing... I mean, after a long break, you epect a good matching?? No? Looking veeery dissappointed at Haye
Haye's been very disappointing in regards to how active he's been. Same thing could be said with Khan, although his blame can be attributed to his promoters. By the time he fights in November/December, he'd have stepped in the ring 3 times in 18 months. That's awful planning for a 23 year old. Frank Warren would never have let that happen
