First of all, what a ****ing performance from Shane, probably the best ive seen in a world-class fight. But i think Cotto showed perfectly how NOT to fight Tony - He started the fight countering on the back foot, and got walked and worn down gradually, despite winning a few rounds early. Counterpunching and trying to outbox a great pressure fighter like Margarito sounds like a good strategy, but it failed. On the other hand, Mosley took the fight to MArgaroto from the 1st round, put him on the back foot, and totally dominated him with fasthands, power shots, and great inside work. Surely his trainer took note of the tactics adopted by Cotto and their failure. Thoughts?
No, not really. Shane may have learned a few things from watching the fight but I wouldn't say Cotto had any influence otherwise.
Probably not, the Paul Williams fight may've showed hints though, like taking over the early rounds and going from there.
