This isn't them same weight drained scrawny kid from 140. Ortiz looks huge at WW. He's clearly a lot bigger than Mayweather and he has good power. He showed good strength and power against Berto another fighter who is also a lot bigger than Mayweather. Of course size alone doesn't win fights and Mayweather has the greater ring IQ and skills, but I'm just wondering if anyone thinks Ortiz's size will cause any real problems.

Can't see it myself. I think Ortiz will try use his size and strength in the clinch...but Mayweather will IMO be too smart and conserve his energy whilst Ortiz exerts energy (E.G. Hatton - Mayweather). Mayweather showed in his last bout that he is physically strong also...it's not always about how big your frame looks.

At first I did but looking at the final press conferences Mayweather looks just as big if not bigger than him, while Ortiz's face look pale and gaunt like a fighter draining heavy weight, way different to his workout videos on 24/7.

Ortiz needs to move up to 154 after this fight.

No, Ortiz's Glass Heart and Glass Jaw with the inserted homing beacon for right hands are going to be problems.

Well I'm not just going off how big his frame is, I'm going off of his weights. He weighed 161 on fight night against Berto. He looks big because he is big. Again that along won't win him the fight but it can't hurt. He'll essential be a solid Jr. MW in there.

I don't think he is going to be able to effectively control distance without getting hit by Mayweather's counters.

So no. I also think Mayweather's strength in the clinch is under-rated.

Oh I know, but like I said, part of Ortiz's gameplan could maybe be to lean on Mayweather, but Mayweather is too good in the clinch and on the inside. I can see Mayweather holding his own in terms strength and power, even more so when the straight right starts landing with consistency.

No, from the looks of Ortiz he's going to be draining pretty good to make weight, Floyd will not have that problem and will be the fresher as the fight goes on. Ortiz has to go for it early or he will wear down, in my opinion at least.

Cortez will break them up before Ortiz would even have a chance to get close enough to lean on him.

    Simply put no.

The style Floyd has and the way it works in boxing, you would have to be a good 30 pounds heavier or more for size/strength to play a major factor.

This is not MMA where someone can shoot for you and lay on top.

Floyd much like James Toney although employing varying methods in a sense abuse the sport of boxing.

I call it abusing but not in a bad way, as it wouldnt work in a street fight but works perfectly well in a boxing contest.

The shoulder roll, bending the head beneath the waist allows breathing room, and of course for fighter like Floyd to use his top level timing, reflexes and speed to come back with counter right hands twisting at the hip.

Even Floyd use of a high guard when in close quarters, the elbows to deflect shots, again when hurt and if Ortize does hurt him...he wont catch him again.

Floyd like Ali like Holmes use their skill to avoid further punishment. When taking a hard shots and you will in combat...the important thing is to be able to ride it out.

Ortiz from what we have seen is not skilled enough in boxing to sustain high level output method to damage someone of Floyd style.

The only way Floyd would lose this is if he lost 3 or 4 steps.

The versions of Floyd we have seen throughout his career and especially in the last 5 years only produces one conclusion. Floyd wins on points.

It would take a fighter on the same skill level or having top end physical benefits over Floyd to beat him in a boxing match.

Manny Pacqaiuo of 2008/2009 had those physical aspects...he has lost a step.

Amir Khan has the speed, timing and movement but not the technical level.

Again to beat Floyd it will take someone special and this is not despite hype/talk/whatever Ortize is not the man the boxer to do it.

Ortiz must use his size and power if hes to have any chance that much is obvious, what is more important is that he hangs around Floyd like a bad smell and doesnt give him a chance to breath, Ortiz must batter him any way he can, to the arms, to the shoulders, to the chest, Victor must try and overload Mayweather and give him no chance to breath.
