Yeah, I think he has a good chance. I see it 50/50. With any outcome possible. With the possible exception of a Pac KO win. But who knows.
I kinda agree, Floyd squeaked a SD by running all night vs the bigger DLH...but that isnt Pacmans game.
Floyd's leagues more skilled than Pac too, Pac just swarms with his fast hands and he won't hurt DLH.
I think Pacman has more of a chance then Duran did against Leonard in the first fight. De La Hoya strategy is based largely on getting his jab going.... No gurantees that will happen against a quick southpaw with a vicious and fast left cross. Marquez negated Pacman by matching his speed and been compact, De La Hoya is a bigger target, leaves himself open to counters and doesn't slip punches. He blocks them with his hands. Something that is very difficult to do when the punched are coming from a speedy, southpaw swarmer. Buy coming in at 10st 5lbs De la hoya may be making a statement but he's giving away perhaps his biggest advantage and having been at 10st 7lbs for at least the last two weeks as documented by 24/7 the only weight gain he will manage will be fluid.... hardly a great idea. Don't be suprised if come fight time De La Hoya still sits comfortably under 11 st. We've seen De La Hoya troubled by speed numerous times before (Mosley, Whitiker, Mayweather) abd we've seen him hit and hurt by smaller men (Mayweather, Mosley, Molina + the early KD's) we've also seen him troubled by a small southpaw in Pernell Whitiker. Add to this De la Hoyas propensity to tire down the stretch and Mannys incredible workrate and you don't quite have the mismatch everyone anticipates. Stylistically its hard to find comparable opponents on each fighters resume. I'd be tempted to compare De La Hoya to Barrera both sylistically and in approach, reliance on the jab etc. Manny doesn't really appear in any form on De La Hoyas incredible CV.... the one fighter I keep thinking of is Pernell Whitiker... not because Manny and Pernell are going to be compared any time soon- purely because Pernell is a southpaw who was small and used his size and creativity to catch De la Hoya napping time and time again. De La Hoya is no physical phenomanon like Roy Jones or Floyd but he's a brilliant punch picker and a hard puncher but he's very much a mortal, especially at 35. Pacman will start very fast as alway and I wouldn't be suprised to see him on the deck early like the Barrera fight. But I have a sneaky suspision that he will get the upset win tonight. Pacmans stoppage losses were freakish... Just like De la Hoyas early career knockdowns. I think De La Hoya takes a early lead but Pacman comes into the fight from the third, troubles De La Hoya with his power throughout and completely outworks him in the championship rounds to take a UD.
Oscar's power bothered two pounds very much. It's a testament to Forbe's great chin and solid defense that he didn't go down. Pac-man is a pressure fighter and will definitely run into something big. He was actually stunned by a Barrera left hook in the 2nd fight so I doubt he could stand up to a dlh left hook. I give manny a very slim chance to possibly pull of a decision, but that's a bit of stretch.
He has a chance for sure. His speed could possibly cause DLH a lot of problems and it will be interesting to see if DLH can keep up with him the longer fight goes on. The longer it goes on the more it favours Pacquiao although he's gonna get hit harder than he ever has before. Can't wait for this now.
