No because Taylor shouldn't be anywhere near a boxing ring. The promoters of this fight and the commission should be under investigation.

Taylor is one of the type of guys Soliman could stop through accumulation.

I don't think he will though, Soliman probably wins but Taylor has a chance tonight.

It would have to be on towel, and late on - but yeah I can see it.

Accumulation is accumulation. As maybe only New England types like Russell and I can appreciate - however light the snowfall, enough of it piling up is gonna be a ***** to shovel out and can ruin your back.

Soliman also has solid enough whiskers to not have to worry about getting punished with any one big counter, freeing him up to just breathe down Jermain's neck until there is no wind left in his sails.

I remember Soliman was considered too old, feather-fisted, washed up, and small (of course he was then campaigning at super middle where he never belonged) to be relevant seven years ago, when I saw him live in the bronze medal bout of The Contender Season 3 in a fun little 6-round tussle with local boy Wayne Johnsen.

I never would've guessed would be a world titlist in 2014...and the favorite over Jermain Taylor, no less!! (who back then had only just recently suffered his first loss in Pavlik I, and was given an excellent chance to regain his title by many fans and writers belying his being a 2-1 underdog...and who, as just a trivial aside, used none other than Wayne Johnsen as his main sparring partner in prep for Hopkins II. Hopkins used Librado Andrade, who is as unlike Taylor as Johnsen is unlike Hopkins...)

I'm not expecting the stoppage by Soliman, but it's entirely plausible as has been pointed out, by the sheer volume of punches that may get through.

I can't say for sure.. if I didn't think Taylor was so shot I'd expect him to win, but as it stands I just see Solimans crazy workrate and slippery style giving this version of Taylor fits.

As has been pointed out, Taylor almost certainly shouldn't even be fighting, and if this fight goes as I'm expecting (ie Soliman landing frequently with stinging but not fight ending punches) it could be really dangerous for Jermaine.

Let's see how it goes, but this fight is one of the few that makes me feel genuinely uncomfortable. IDK if Taylor's been putting on some kinda act, but it strikes me there's something really not right with the kid - between the health issues, the shooting and the impending court case, this is not a guy who should be risking his health in the ring.

I can't say the truth of it, but the rumour mill suggests that Haymon pushed hard for this fight (even possibly offering Taylor a $1 mil bonus).

He also outbid Loeffler - who claims they put in a pretty sizable offer for Soliman to fight GGG.

IDK. If you're interested do your own bit of digging and draw your own conclusions, but I don't like the sound of this one bit.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but Taylors recent instagrams and the way he looked at the weigh-in doesn't sit well with me.

I agree. And the guys who have beaten him have all been tough chinned punchers. Froch, Pavlik and Abraham. I actually think that taylor is going to surprise people here.

Nothing would surprise me given JT's mental state, glass jaw and questionable health. I wouldn't be shocked if Soliman took him out in round 1.

Taylor, has a good chance at winning this fight. If he uses the same qualities he used earlier in career.

    Yes, but also no...

In 2012, Taylor defeated Caleb Truax, though he was knocked down. At the time, fans took the knockdown to mean that he was washed up. Who was Truax? Some bum, many people believed.

But as we now know, Truax is actually pretty decent. I personally believe he’s about as decent as Soliman—who won the IBF title by defeating a severely declined version of Felix Sturm. If not for the wins over Sturm (one which was overturned due to PEDs), Soliman would still be fighting Australian domestics like Garth Wood and Les Sherrington. And let’s face it, Truax’s wins over Don George, Derek Ennis, and Ceresso Fort are about as good.

So could Taylor win this? Sure. Will this prove he’s worthy of a world title? No. In fact, I’d say the IBF title is about as much of a paper title as they come.

More to the point, I don’t want Taylor to win, not because he’s not good enough but because it will prove he’s good enough to be a danger to himself. We don’t need Taylor becoming cannon fodder to the next hyped prospect.

Did someone just seriously compare a club fighter to a man who had a razor thin fight with Ronald Wright, and a win over saiko bika?

Felix Sturm is by no means a bad fighter. he certainly has a far more impressive resume than say arthur Abraham.

does completely dissecting zbik , who debatably beat chavez Junior, somehow make you look inferior to current Jermain Taylor?

Jermaine Taylor s brain injury and erratic and even violent behavior reminds me of Edwin Valero after his accident :-(
