    Maybe.

I read Hopkins and wright are negotiating a rematch?? I'm assuming that's for the same reason.

I tell you waht though. thats not a bargaining tool. Who the **** would pay for another version of their first fight?????

Of course! The oldest trick in the book! As is the ESB campaign to discredit Hopkins in order to lower his financial demands from Warren et co. :nut

Joe-Woods is a good fight! MAybe the old man Hops can take out another title holder and fight the winner? Then pave the road for Dawson...

Nonetheless, Joe C and Hops makes a lot of sense

The problem is that Calzaghe's side didn't break with this story, Woods' team did. That, to me, states that Warren is clearly holding Woods as a very real backup if Hopkins falls through for whatever reason.

Joe wants Hopkins and this time, for once, he's called him out with intent - not banded some names around. Joe Calzaghe wants Hopkins... nobody else. Warren must realise that Joe has stayed loyal to him all this time when he was getting the **** ripped out of him. Frank needs to reward that by delivering this fight for Joe. Somehow though, I don't think it's quite that simple with Frank: he's a cold, hearltess businessman who only thinks money. Joe and Frank are going to make more cash fighting in the UK. Hopkins won't come here. Firstly, that is silly. All parties involved would make more money if this fight was in the UK. Calzaghe doesn't have the travelling support of Ricky Hatton. If 5,000 travel to New York for Calzaghe/Hopkins, that will be a good effort. Secondly, Hopkins doesn't fill places and I reckon Calzaghe would be the draw for American fight fans if he came across but they wouldn't go out of their way to see him. Lastly, if the fight was in the UK, there would be 55,000+ fans in attendance = more money all round.

But Bernie has ruled out a trip to the UK (I've heard that due to his age, he can't get travel insurance) so we're stuck with the USA of America (Warren did say name the place afterall). This fight being made will come down to one thing, and one thing only: Will Frank Warren take a paycut?

Joe wants the fight but if the money doesn't make sense then we're in trouble. I don't think Warren would allow it.

Its still a good first match up for Joe at 175..If of course if Hopkins is either tied up,plays hard balll or just ends up scewing up the deal..I still would like to get confirmation on this ..

Calzaghe wont travel to America to fight, so its either Woods or Froch IMO for his next fight in Wales or Manchester.

Its as simple as that really. The only stumbling block is that Woods is **** scared of Calzaghe. But if Warren offers him enough cash, Woods will take the fight & lose, cos in his mind he doesnt think he can beat Calzaghe. Woods is a beaten man before the fight is even signed.

    Two points.

Bernard is nowhere near as rich as he SHOULD be because he is not much of a negotiater ( at least before GBP days).

While a prime Bernard would have given Calzaghe a serious challenge, the present version would be out of his league.

I would like to see Calzaghe fight Dawson, the best of the 175ers.

JC is an imposing fighter, plain and simple. He's a lion, and I don't think he is the kind of fighter B-Hop wants to fight right now. I would love to see Bernard retire than fight Joe, and then Joe could fight Woods for a shitload of money, but that might not happen. Even so. There are too many concedings to be made for this fight to happen.

You all have good points there, but if Hopkins refuses to fight in the U.K then I don't see this fight happening at all.

Joe might want to put pressure on Warren on this, or even threaten him...but remember, money is one of the most important considerations to Joe too...however much he talks about legacy, every second interview, he talks about the most money...

I am not greatly interested in a Hopkins fight in Spring...but in Autumn - :verysad - Bhop would literally only be fighting for the money, selling his resume dearly...this means we would never see Joe take on Dawson...so even Joe fights Hopkins now, or better to forget about him altogether - let him fight Woods instead - because we all want to see the Dawson fight.
