i think there may be the odd bit like sadly you ften get at M.E.N.wont be your genuine fight fans as us here know.
The problem for the irish is first off, finding anywhere decent open as most pubs will be shut because of the match.especially with it being 1715 k.o., town tends to shut down drink wise on derby days.

Thanks for the replies lads, appreciated. I think I may go over this summer. If so, except a pm from me paddymickey.

Nah, not in digbeth. That's not really an Irish area as such since there are no residential areas in digbeth, its all commercial properties. It's linked with the Irish just because of a few pubs and community centres. Anyway, I'd rather not give out personal info over the internet. PM me if you really wanna know.

Hooligans don't have principles? I was "a lad" for the best part of ten years. I also have boxed for several years- both take balls!

I never went about intentionally intimidating innocents- although I am sure we did. Hooliganism is just like boxing on a wider scale- you only fight those who want to fight, you don't go about smashing randoms in the street for nothing.

Nobody wants innocents to get scared, but you have to fight in busy town centres as if you met in an industrial estate you'd be far more easily convicted of "mobbing and rioting" or what ever the English alternative is? affray? at least if it happens outside a pub you can argue you were on your way to the match if collared.

I hear folk all the time say- "hooligans hunt in packs" that is true, but some times your "pack" is vastly outnumbered- are you telling me it doesn't take balls to be in a group of ten folk and stand while a group of 20-40 maybe more attack you?

A boxing ring takes balls as it is a fair fight against a trained oponent, but in a boxing ring you have a ref to stop it getting out of hand, and you dont run the risk of someone hitting you with a pool cue, bottle, brick, knife etc... or jumping on your head once you hit the deck.

In football mobs, (particularly in England I would say due to their vast size) there are plenty of hangers on that stand at the back and do **** all, and have probably never flung a punch in their hooligan career, but there are also a loyt of brave, game lads that would stand their ground and back their mates up no matter what.

I seriously doubt there will be trouble. The Irish fans travelling would be fairly hard core fans and they're generally the well behaved types. The ones that cause trouble are usually locals who know **** all about boxing that just decide to head to the fight for a night out.

    Should be a great atmosphere.

Because it's not their country, you stupid ****... They should **** off to their 3rd World shithole if they want to be ****s... (And that applies to any of them born here as well. Jesus was born in a stable but he wasn't a horse.)

    Not that I saw.

Not only that but we hosted a party in a Manchester club for over a thousand McCloskey fans - despite being pissed & on the wrong end of a shity stick there wasnt a hint of hassle.

I think that says a lot.

The only incident I saw was some English drunken girl (associated with an incident involving an Asian guy who had his shirt ripped) with no shoes on screaming abuse at a Khan fan calling him a p*** and quite understandly yer man was pissed off. The security were pulling her away but were just having a word with her and restraining her, when in fact she should have been thrown straight out.

I didnt see any bother with the Irish and Khan fans, there was a good bit of banter, khan fans were walking past a group of Irish and they were giving each other a bit of banter, but all in good nature.

I have no problem at all with Khan fans, there were loads of kids walking round drinking lemonade, young couples etc, I saw were well behaved inside and outside the arena.

This is what I mean. The Irish fans only come to have a good time. They were never intent on winding people up in the process, so the thought of things seriously kicking off because you have Irish and Muslims in one arena, was ridiculous.

The Irish I've met have all been are laid back party people, they don't tend to go looking for trouble.
