I do. I think from a mental standpoint this could really affect him. He's been focused on one man for several months (that sounds gay), and in a matter of a few weeks is going to face someone else? That's a big adjustment. And what about the mental edge of his opponent? Yeah, short notice; however, they're going to have a 'what do I have to lose?' approach. The guy they put in is going to be in a win/win situation.
It depends who the replacement is. Opponent could also come in there "Million dollars for a beat down, it’s a good deal" approach like Rahman did.
I think they'll reschedule and there won't be a filler opponent, so it'll just be a moot point anyway. If they did have to do a filler, I also don't think Wlad is the type of guy to be going "Oh my God I have to fight Brian Minto! Jesus! Which way does he circle? How do I jab? HOW DO I JAB?!"
you are greatly underestimating Wlads mental strength. Things happen and its a business. Wlad knows that. Its not like he started baxing 2-3 years ago. He has seen this before and will see it again. time to move on!
:rofl:rofl I don't think it will affect him at all. There isn't really anyone in the HW division (apart from Haye of course!) on his level at the moment. Maybe some of the prospects will grow to that level (hopefully) but at the moment, no one.
Wlad clinches 91 times in that fight. Holyfield clinched 96 times against Tyson in less than 11 full rounds. Ali clinched 100+ times in many of his fights in the 70's. Is Hopkins mentally weak because he clinches like a wrestler? Wlad was considered at a crossroads before the Peter fight, many assumes another knockout loss. Peter fought dirty and Wlad didn't even complain to the ref about illegal rabbit punches. He got up and went back to business. That was a mentally strong performance from Wlad.
Wlad would be a big favorite against anyone who could be named, including Chagaev. I don't think a switch will affect him.
