After the Walters fight I found similarities between the two fights in the way Walters reacted in the last round. He seems to look away or not focus on Loma even when he was punched and they both show little fighting emotion. Both were very calm before the fight ended.
he did have a nervous breakdown, he was sobbing his heart out. and taking lewis bombs easily and circling the ring doing nothing.
Seriously? the chicken dance? I seen a guy on BSPN fights get hit with a good shot go down and appear to be out cold. Eyes closed no movement. As soon as the ref counted 9 the guy jumps up apparantly unfazed seeming to have been clowning around and the ref counted him out. Fan man was also pretty crazy.
completely different situations. McCall should never have been allowed to step into that ring, because he was having serious mental issues. How they cleared him to fight is beyond me (yep, a lot of cash in a brown enveloppe to the "right" person, I know). Walters got his little mental breakdown delivered to him by being completely lost in there from round 5 on, knowing he wouldn't be able to win anymore, while McCall stepped in the ring without anything left mentally to be broken down.
He beat Steve McCarthy in controversial circumstances in September 1989. McCarthy knocked Wilson down in the third round. Looking to finish the fight with Wilson on the ropes, the fight was stopped when Wilson's 62-year-old mother climbed into the ring and started attacking McCarthy with her shoe; Wilson's corner man also entered the ring. McCarthy believed he had won and left the ring, but bizarrely referee Adrian Morgan insisted that the fight should continue. McCarthy refused (the injury caused by Wilson's mother required four stitches) and Wilson was declared the winner by technical knockout.[3] A riot ensued and Wilson's mother had to be dragged from the ring by her hair by a security guard; McCarthy returned to the ring but only to calm the crowd.[4][5] A BBBofC enquiry upheld the result but ordered a rematch, but McCarthy pulled out, suffering from flu this was one of the most bizarre moments inside the ring.
I did think of McCall, but it reminded me more of Jeff Lacy in the Calzaghe fight or Chavez Jr in the Martinez fight. Maybe, a little of Lucian Bute vs Carl Froch or Kelly Pavlik vs Bernard Hopkins too.
