Anyone tired about hearing how skilled Floyd is?

Seriously everywhere you go, even haters won't stop themselves from proclaiming how unbeatable and ungodly his boxing skills are.

Anyone just want to slap themselves for having to hear this **** over and over? It's obvious none of these guys have followed boxing or studied the sport to make a comment like that.

I'm just getting tired of it. Call me a hater all you want, but I appreciate Floyd's skills and he can be entertaing to watch if he wants to be. But he's not that good. Believe me.

There have been better counterpunchers -

There have been better defensive fighters

There have been far better offensive fighters

There have been better boxers.

Floyd used to impress me but today he's doesn't one bit. He has an extremely limited punch arsenal . 9/10 times you can expect him to throw 3 different punches: a lead left hook, a straight right, or a jab. As a defensive fighter he doesn't even show much versatility. He always looks to counter with a right hand over the jab, which he sets up in a very obvious way. Or he looks for a left hook.

An old De La Hoya who isn't known for a great defense was parrying/blocking most of Floyd's shots and even making him miss completely at some points. There's a reason for this: Floyd doesn't throw combinations... EVER. That's a pretty glaring flaw. Combinations create openings. If you know the other guy only looks for one punchs, and it's usually going to be left hook or a straight, and not a bodyshot... your gonna block most of his **** just by keeping a tight defense. Castillo did it and so did Hoya, both guys not known for having a great defense.

Floyd biggest asset - his defense can be broken. He doesn't have the most versatile defense. He always defends punches in the exact same way at the same angles. He always looks for the shoudler roll and bends down at the waist. This is an effective defense but Floyd overuses it. Watch a prime Bernard Hopkins or James Toney (or hell even Leonard), who could not only use the shoulder roll but parry shots off from either side and roll off to different angles. Floyd is always in the same positions every single time he gets attacked. It's effective for him because he's fast, but if you know how to attack somebody in these positions, and what punches to throw, you can expose it.

Here's the bottom line: Floyd is good but he has ONE STYLE. Watch his dad Floyd Sr. when he used to box. It's the same style basically except Floyd is a lot more quick and athletic. He not ****ing houdini or Bruce Lee. He's beatable, and he's flawed just like the rest. His chin isn't great. He's not much of a puncher. He can be outboxed if he doesn't posses physical advantages over you. His lack of body punching and combination punching is glaring flaw that can be exposed. Pacquiao would expose these flaws.

If Pacquiao wasn't smaller then Floyd... I wouldn't give Floyd ANY chance to win that fight.


Btw, the most impressive thing about Floyd is not his defense it's his accuracy. He's one of the most pin-point accurate guys (punch for punch) I've ever seen, and THAT impresses me. His defense doesn't impress because I've seen better defense from other guys. But he is so damn accurate with single shots it makes guys very hesitant to come to him.

 

I just get sick of it. I hear all the time from boxing fans I talk too, and I can't convince them that Floyd isn't superman. But your right, once/if he loses the myth is going to go .

 

Every fighter is flawed. Styles make fights. EVERYONE CAN LOSE, PERIOD. Ray Robinson lost. Ali lost. Leonard lost. Floyd won't give himself a chance to lose. That doesn't make him better.

 

I'm sure Roach knows exactly how to deal with Floyd already. He knew back in the De La Hoya fight, but Hoya couldn't execute and was too passed it. Pacquiao has the style to get the job done, and Floyd is too past his best to beat him imo.
