i watched 300 the other week, class film. so i decided to look into spartan training as its supposed to be really tough any have found a few clips on youtube an ive tried this a few times http://youtube.com/watch?v=6birIEaoFf8 its tougher than it looks so ye, just wondered if there anybody who really into it and knows alot about it and the benifits of it. also how good is 'the farmers walk' for overall fitness?
Thanks for posting that, looks like a good workout. I don't want to bust your bubble but I doubt thats the program spartans used. I think the only connection is the 300 reps. Its still a solid routine though. There used to be some great posts in the lounge about different training practices of historical elite fighting groups. I remember one thread in particular that talked about the zulu and how part of their training was that Shaka Zulu would cover the ground with thorns and make his warriors dance around on them for hours to toughen their feet, increase their pain tolerance/endurance, etc. The thread talked about Spartans some too, among others but I guess it got erased when the server went down.
i like the look of this guys workout too, watch it for abit and check out the weird 'push up' excercise he does http://youtube.com/watch?v=O1IvmLwgGF8
