How well do you know either man, esp. Barrett? Their "principles" as you loftily call them? I knew it wouldn't be too long before someone got on their high horse about following boxers based on nationality.

I met Haye a few months ago, had my picture taken and got to chat to him for a while - top bloke.

I want him to destroy Barrett, then the Klitschko's. He's the future the boxing world needs.

Heavyweights are crying out for a brash fighter who can promote himself and the sport. Haye does that and people turn against him, it's bizarre.

He's a bellend, moaning about only having £30 a day from Haye's lot to eat on? What a beaut!

I hope he gets iced and he will.

I dont think Haye looks down on anybody either, I think you're mistaking his self confidence for that. He comes across as a top fella to me.

I don't give a bollocks for all this 'I support boxers for their style / personality / principles' guff which ends up with Brits cheering on the foreign fighter

I support the British fighter, it's the way I was raised

Inevitably some people will start hating on Haye now though and the numbers will rise the more success he has. Going against the grain makes some people feel intellectually superior, never understood it myself.

Then you have not been raised..

    You have been brainwashed..!

It's about supporting the individual, not the country, or where your from.

It's about supporting principles, and morals.

That's what wins over real people, David Haye is just the flavour of the month. If he is beaten in this fight 30% of his fans will care and 70% will move on.

I agree with this sentiment; you don't have to be a massive fan of your countrymen, of course, but unless they're total twats or utter hypejobs who completely overshadow more deserving homegrown fighters, why would you not at least support your local boys?:huh

Haye strikes me as a good guy and likable fellow; he's certainly good for boxing, British and world-wide...I just cannot fault him, even if I tried...why would anyone want him to fail, especially if you're British?:huh

Hamilton? Only thing I dislike about him is that he covers himself in the flag but lives abroad in order not to pay British taxes, from his absolutely massive income. That, I just cannot stomach. If he had been born in Romania or even in Switzerland, it's unlikely he'd have become who he is today. The least he could do is pay his taxes like all his supporters who fly around the world to support him...but that's another discussion...

    Go, David!!!:happy

Exactly, you don't actually know the real principles and morals of anyone unless you know them closely.
David Haye plays an act at times that boxers sometimes have to do.
You can tell this from the different interviews he does.
If he's being interviewed at a fund raising event for a boxing gym or something then he's completely different to the act he portrays to sell himself as a boxer.
