Anyone want to tell me these are genuine knockdown punches?

from this angle I can see Vitali put his hip into it, it was more of a right hook but Solis was stunned and even reached and felt his head before falling...it stunned him enough for a Knockdown and there is no doubt he lost his equilibrium

 

Ive watched the reply and a punch clearly lands on the side of Solis head.It dont look like much but it causes his legs to buckle and down he goes.He went down from a punch.I dont know if the punch injured the knee or the trip to the canvas caused it.But a punch landed.

 

true i did not see the impact from the first view but from a different view the temple punch hurt Solis and caused the KD....the KD may have caused the injury but the left leg wobbled and wavered 1st then he went down and held his right leg

 

Personally I dont think Solis was hurt at all by that punch. He was leaning in and bending his knees on the impact so that motion is most likely what injured his knee. Vitali on the other hand has recently posted a video claiming Solis wa knocked out.

 

No surprise there, Vitali claimed as much in the post fight interview. I don't think he was knocked out, but he looked stunned, grabbing his head after the punch and BOTH legs going, causing his right to fold under him as tumbled back.

Vitali: Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Of course, many are now very disappointed. You have only seen one round of 12. I want to say one thing: This was a solid blow at the end of the round and, um, I prepared myself for a long fight.

RTL: I think he has injured his knee a little.


Vitali: I dont know... [inaudible, audio cut off] ...after the direct hit. I also had doubts whether he can continue to fight or not. No idea. The doctors have to clear this up. After the punch he did not want continue to fight.

His recent statement:

“I feel I hit him very hard. Solis was knocked out. What happened after that. He breaks his ligaments or knee. It’s his problem. I’m sorry the fight was so short. I promise the next fight, I won’t touch my opponent for the first three rounds, and after that, I’ll knock him out. But with fight with Solis, no excuses. He was knocked out by punch – right half uppercut, hook. Solis’ feels bad. After that it’s everything excuses from his side.”

 

Vitali is a horrible, classless *****. It's different when his shoulder is a bit sore. "Oh I can't go on, it hurts too much"

A guy genuinely ****s his knee and tries to continue anyway and he's mocking/insulting him. 'Class act' my arse.

He was KD'd and hurt his knee going down because he has bad knees. Knockout.

I like how people try to "blame" Vitali for not having a fight scripted to enthuse them. He stopped the guy in the first round. Period. And anyone who has been around the sport for any amount of time has seen this happen before.

 

I agree, also Vitali landed more punches i would say.

 

Solis was stunned and held his head, it appeared he lost his equilibrium and went down, did he get hurt during the fall or was it his equilibrium ....I dont know if anyone saw Cotto-Mayorga but Mayorga got hit on the chin and lost the feeling in his left arm, this happens in boxing

 

I disagree. Stop the film at 1:36, 1:36.5 seconds...you can clearly see the impact of Vitali's right on Solis's temple. Sometimes light punches have more of an impact than people realize, especially if the victim doesn't see the punch coming.

 

This is entirely possible. My suspicion is that the temple punch caused Solis to black out for a second, which caused him to stumble, shift his weight incorrectly, and hurt his knee going down. We'll never know the truth, but this argument is entirely plausible.

 

I agree. Solis fought very well in round one, but Vitali's defense neutralized Solis's bombs. Vitali then took the round because of aggression and light left jabs.

Of course, based on what we saw, Solis was just warming up. So, there's the possibility that Solis would have come out for round two looking even better...and connecting more. Assuming, of course, the knee didn't get injured.

 

I agree with you. Most likely, Solis did not see the punch coming. That's why the punch had impact beyond it's apparent power.
