I have to say, I was extremely impressed with Tommy Speer. That was really ****ed up when they showed George waking up and still trying to fight.

Tommy Speer is a HUGE welterweight. That guy must weight close to 200 pounds when not fighting. He's going to be trouble for Danzig, who could probably cut to 155. It should be an interesting finale, though I'm sad to see all the Serra guys out. A Serra/Hughes finale would have been a more interesting fight. George vs. Mac held more allure. But after watching George get KOed into oblivion, I don't think his chances against Danzig would have been that good anyway.

I agree, before tonight I wanted a George/Danzig final. But after watching the Speer/George fight, I think Speer/Danzig is the MUCH better final. I'm not even sure I'd say Danzig is a favorite at this point, it's a 50/50 fight in my eyes.

Felt really bad for John, though. Hell of a nice guy, but you knew he was just going to get his ass beat for the second time in a row. And he wanted the fight so bad.

Yeah, I like John. The guy is all heart. But he isn't in the same skill class as Mac Danzig, and heart only gets you so far in MMA.

I honestly thought George was going to blast him out. Should be a really good fight.

George didn't look good at all, he didn't do much even before the poke in the eye....which didn't help matters.....but his punching didn't look good at all.......speer was throwing the better punches that were thrown, and if it went to the ground I would think that Speer would be able to out muscle him anyway.

would have rather seen a grude match with hightower instead of the skilles dude who acts touch and got his ass beat by the same guy.

second fight suprised me and dissapointed me. good for speers but that eye poke definitly ruined the fight. I haate wrestlers, but this guy hits hard.

George got caught. He was pretty much out after that first shot while they were still standing. I though it was pretty even up to that point, they were both landing some shots. The eye poke had definitely some effect.

I agree its 50\50 for Mac\Tommy...but I'm leaning towards Danzig by later rd submission.

Not COULD cut to 155, HAS cut to 155 for his previous fights. For as muscular as he is, he always looked smaller than everyone he was in with. George, Bowman, Troy, all those guys fought at 155 before coming onto the show. John, Billy, Jrock all fought at 185 and I'm shocked that Tommy can make 170. I wish they'd bring in guys all the same size instead of having these weird size mismatches.

And yeah, George didn't look so great on his feet last night or against Hightower. He looked tentative as hell. I was hoping it'd go to the ground so we could have seen what his JJ would have been able to do against Tommy, but oh well. Now we get to see another skill vs. size match. Whoop de do.

Since when is this size vs skill?

Tommy is just as skilled, just in different areas. I don't know how many times it needs to be pointed out, but MMA is not just BJJ and Muay Thai, and how good you are at those two.

Mac hasn't beaten the better competition, hes fought them, but he's lost every time he steps up.

    Close fight, Tommy takes it.

I'd go ahead and say wrestling and striking with power are skills.

Wrestling takes skill, no doubt, but punching with power doesn't necessarily reflect skill. It reflects some familiarity with throwing a decent punch, but also has a lot to do with muscle mass, leverage and velocity. I don't think anyone said Speers had no skill, but Danzig is clearly a more skilled fighter. Danzig has better jiu jitsu technique, as well as better stand up. His footwork is better and he simply has more options on his feet. The man's not exactly a wrestler, but he can pull off a takedown and stuff a takedown, so he's got a bit of that in his repertoire as well.

Hell, I don't even like Mac Danzig, but he's def. the more skilled fighter of the two. If both these guys were the same size, this would be Danzig in a landslide. The only reason we're talking about this fight is because Danzig is a much smaller fighter.

W/e Ben Saunders was sick as hell. That played a huge part IMO.
