Canelo won that. I had it 116-112

Lara doesn't really have a case here. Canelo was the boss for the majority of the rounds and he was the one controlling the fight. Lara didn't really do ****, but people still overplay the 'cuban boxing school' card and pretty much spunk their pants when he does anything that can even remotely be consider good pure boxing.

Why do we always see posts like this after a boring fight with disgraceful tactics being used? Lara was running. Period. Even Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see it.

Lara def wasn't running every round, he was on the defence. It surely looked like he ran a few times. I had it for Lara, but i could see the decision going either way because it was a close fight. If it were to come to the scorecards it was already known that canelo would be favored.

Can't deny that 117-111 is a disgrace tho.

Lara certainly isn't must watch tv.Same holds true with the Top Rank Cuban Rigo-it is stomach churning for the fans who pay big bucks to watch these track and field athletes.Back to the back of the bus for Lara.

Damn! Lara was so out of range throughout the majority of the fight that he couldnt land anything meaningful. Running is not ring generalship. Dude was literally runnnig. Anyone could get in there, run around in the ring against an opponent and call it "ring generalship". Even when the ref broke them , lara was already running on break. Even when throwing his basic one-two right down the middle, he was so far out of range that even though he would catch Canelo with the end of his punches, Lara was so out of range his 1-2 had 0 effect. That is a style more suited for the amateurs.

The majority of the fight Lara put at least 5-7 feet between them. What the fk it that sht?!

Lara should never be on prime time anymore.

I never liked it when a ****y boxer 'quits' and avoids the opponent during the closing seconds of the final round. Lara did it and got what he deserved. Give 100% for 12 full rounds, or don't cry about the scoring.

At the end of the day Lara was landing more of the shots, except for rounds 4,5,8 and 12 I believe. And anyone who said his shots didn't have any effect, did you not see canelos face/eye not to mention his "I lost" body language after the 12th

I think he swept the first 3 rounds. He was boxing Canelo's ears off at first. But, then Canelo started finding a home for this body shots in rd 4. Lara then started to run a bit. But, he got back to boxing during lengthy stretches of rds 5 and 6. Canelo was doing good consistent work in rds 7-9. But, Lara picked it back up for the rest of the fight. A mix of "running", but mostly boxing was enough to give him 8 rds, IMO. Rds 5 and 6 were swing rounds. But, I felt Lara did enough to get those.

He had a height, reach, and speed advantage, which he used very well for most of the fight. It was not in his best interest to stand and trade with Canelo. He doesn't have that ability to stay in the pocket and slip punches, and get his shots off like Mayweather. So, he uses his legs to control range and get him out of trouble.

I guess I don't know **** about boxing then, because I thought Lara was running around the ring for most of the fight. If that's the strategy you want to employ to try to win the fight, go right ahead. However, Lara was clearly on his bike for good portions of the fight.

Mayweather is great defensive boxing. Lara is great offensive boxing, in the sense that it offends boxing as a sport.

    Lara ran.

He circled to look for different angles sure, but he never USED them. Circle, circle, pause, feint, circle, circle, feint, circle, jab, repeat.

Compare it to Rigo who would evade Donaire, then stand in the pocket, make him miss hilariously, and then send him reeling back with a hard counter. Some folks even thought that was boring. I didn't, but what Lara did was shameful. Very similar to Dirrell against Froch, minus the holding. You don't win fights that way in the pros, and you shouldn't.

I can't say Alvarez fought a better fight, because he looked pretty much outclassed, but he at least tried to fight. Lara seemed to think all the rounds were already scored for him and all he needed to do was not get hit.

I'm not calling what Lara did as running, I just call it losing.
