Anyone who thinks prime ali would beat prime tyson

Tyson imo could be all wrong for Ali. Ali was open to jabs/left hooks and didn't have a good defense against those punches. Tyson was great at slipping jobs and hunting down movers, which was Ali. But Ali is obviously greater than the movers Tyson beat. I think Tyson wins here all the same

He won by timing teh constant head-movement with his jab so well,, it made him look as if he werent even using his famous overated head-movement,, BUT he was using it LOADS, every round, it just wasnt good enough to a avoid a good jab!! Ali has a GREAT jab. :deal

You have a point there. Tyson didn't have a Frazier left hook but it was fast and good enough to catch Ali with it. It would be a great fantasy fight that either could win imo. An overwhelmingly amount of people may go with Ali but either could win and Ali should be the favorite anyways in many H2H heavyweight matchups. Ali in his prime rapes any version of Foreman or Liston imo. Especially Foreman:deal lol.

Take your top 20 heavyweight list as you posted it in Reznicks thread and I can virtualy guarante you that your No2 would have a fair shot at beating your No1.

Those are the levels of certainty we are deling with when we match fighters of this calibre.

 

Ali had all the tools to beat a prime Tyson. Mike was great and a little underrated now. Mike was a legit ATG and greater than someone like George Foreman who did not have the dominant reign Mike did.

 

I agree and think Tyson does get a bit underrated now.

I definitely could see Tyson beating Ali. Any time you're dealing with top-tier greats, anybody beating anybody within that group can't be ruled out and Tyson does have some things going for him in this matchup...but so does Ali. Either man winning wouldn't surprise me.
