i think mayweather cotto would be awsome an cotto could win it but he will have to do like you said.... tighten up his defence .... but over his past few fights he been gradually doing so

I agree with you about Whitaker, I think he would have given Mayweather a nightmare, although Mayweather certainly wouldn't be an easy fight for him either.

The reason why I believe that intelligent pressure is the best way to beat Mayweather is due to the fact that sitting back and trying to box with him is virtually suicide for the majority of fighters, past or present. When you enter Mayweather's realm (trying to box him from the outside) you'd better have blistering speed combined with slick technique/timing and a strong mentality in order to stand a chance. Judah had the speed and decent timing, but he didn't have the skills or mentality. When Mayweather adjusted to him after the first two or three rounds, Judah was completely lost, and his speed and ability meant nothing at that point. He didn't have a plan B, because he's an idiot -- when his plan A failed, the only thing he could do was to keep trying plan A anyway, which is why he'll never be a great fighter, because great fighters adapt in the ring and in the moment at hand, like Mayweather himself.

People who could sit back and box with Mayweather and beat him at his own game (such as, to give a few examples, Hearns, Leonard and Whitaker) simply don't come along often enough. I can't see anyone out there at the moment who should even think of trying to outbox Mayweather.

yea im almost posotive there already negotiating ... but you no how they never go public with that kinda stuff.... plus DLH knows its a winnable fight an if he wins hes back in the spotlight an really geard up an pumped for mayweather fight.... an cotto knows its a winnable fightan if he looses hes rich as hell... but if he wins he gets catapulted into superstardom get paid an is gearded up for mayweather... so both fighters have a chance... one to get back to the top of boxing an one who is jus in reach of it

One possible weakness someone could exploit is the way Mayweather sometimes throws a right straight and then instantly falls into a clinch -- I remember seeing it against Judah as well as Hatton, and if someone times a counter (say, the uppercut) for when he tries to fall into a clinch, it could do real damage. Problem is that he's so quick that it's hard to do it even if you know the punch-clinch combo is coming.

I can't see Cotto winning, to be honest -- he was stunned more than once by Judah's counters (who Mayweather is just as fast as and FAR more skilled than), and an old, past his prime Mosley boxed his ears off at certain points. I think Mayweather would take him apart.

I wouldn't care if Pacquiao was Floyd's size, he's too fundamentally flawed and we saw how when someone boxes him and uses and effective jab and attack can nullify him (Morales coming off a loss no less) and JMM.

The next person that'll be built up "he can beat Floyd" is Juan Diaz.

This is actually a fight in two years I'd like to see. By then Juan will be have saturated to welter.

Also, you guys will disagree with me on this and I don't think he'll beat him NOR will the fight happen because it's not a $$$$ fight. But I think that Cory Spinks if he can stay focused can give Floyd problems and poses a STYLE issue why?? He has a good committed jab, he circles the ring opposite to where Floyd "LIKES" to move. (Floyd usually dictates the movment in most fights).

Most of all, he'll force Floyd to be the attacker. It'll be a matter if Spinks can stand up to Floyd. What makes me believe he can is he danced (albeit literally) with a real middleweight so why would Floyd be an issue?

The winner would be the person who forced the fight.

should bring a blunt object in the ring..a baseball bat will do but he might roll with that too... a knife will be a better choice

I don't think there is a fighter out there now who possesses all of those qualities. Roberto Duran did, but that's neither here or there.

The only fighter than comes close right now is Miguel Cotto. I've thought long and hard about this one, and to be honest, he's the guy who can beat Mayweather. I'd give Cotto a MUCH better chance than I gave Hatton, Baldomir, or Judah.

floyd is most likely within 3 fights of retiring for good. so, it's unlikely he'll step in the ring with anyone (like paul williams) that's any kind of a threat to beat him
