Of course not anyone would get caught by any particular shot. Some fighters have more sound defense or better reflexes. But isn't the point being made that IF the shot landed the same way, the result would be the same? The way Hatton was set up for the ko (with his hands down, mouth open and looking at his own jab), it was almost like he got sucker punched. Take any other junior welter and leave him defenseless to be cracked by a fully loaded up left hand from Pac that they don't see coming and which they are leaning into. Consider a fighter being unprepared for, nor seeing, any incoming, and then look at the concussive force with which that punch lands. I don't see anyone under those circumstances not getting dropped heavily.
That maybe true. But Khan has also been on the canvas several times before that. I await your reply? :blurp
I agree, it's overused. However, sometimes the person saying it may have a certain context behind, for instance say a guy says "anyone would've been KO'd by that shot!" regarding the Pacquiao punch on Hatton...perhaps he means anyone currently fighting in the 140lb. weight class...which, he very well may be right.
Chavez would have taken that shot Manny landed on Hatton. He took a similar bomb when Randall put him down, now that shot would have put Ricky out cold too.
FYI - John David Jackson is quite respected as a trainer now and was Nate Campbell's trainer for the Ortiz fright.
Yep. The punch took him literally off the ground. But was he walking into the shot? I just seem to remember him unloading a 2 or 3 punch combo and then getting careless not getting his hands back up. Not actually walking right into it.
