Haven't heard anything about him for a while, my first post on this forum, so sorry if this has already been covered.

I dont know if he'll truly be back

His reflexes were starting to go a little ( and thats his whole game )

Im glad he won his title but I dont see Junior bothering the top again.

sadly that may be true, I always enjoyed watching him fight. He could have gone further if he'd been more active but couldn't get the fights. Now it may be too late, probably is. A shame, a lot of people hate him because he dared to challenge their hero but to me he's a good honest pro who had the talent but didn't get the breaks.

Not really, he probably gets more "fans" around here BECAUSE of the association with Hatton then he would have otherwise. I don't think many Hatton fans hate Witter, it was more like the Hatton haters professed to rate Witter just so they could take his side and push the "ducking" agenda.

Apart from Zab Judah. That was just about the biggest break he could ever wish for, yet he chose to stink the place out.

I think he was not confident enough at that stage of his career to mix it up with Judah

That performance did cost him, it put the Yank TV networks off him for a long time. I'd never criticize him for the loss but if he'd have gone for it and gone down fighting then maybe things may have opened up for him a little more.

He's past it looking at the Bradley performance. He has all sorts of excuses such as overtraining, but looking at his style these sorts of fighters tend to go downhill sharpish when father time catches up.

He has been an unlucky fighter, really. I don't really know what else he could have done, after the US were not interested in him unless he was fighting Hatton. He fought and beat decent contenders, got to a #1 ranking albeit a little late in his career, and never got THAT fight he should have.

He was happy to bring the fight to Judah until he got dropped. After that he became a non combatant.

After that fight, Witter's career panned out exactly as deserved. If he wants to come back and try again, good luck to him, but I think he's seen better days TBH..

He became somewhat of a pantomime villain is what I mean. I consider myself a fan of his and while I don't like Hatton's style-I consider it ugly to watch and I am and always have been disgusted at the way his career was managed while with SN-nonetheless I think I'd like him if I met him. But Warren buried Witter and he was set up to be despised. Listen to the boos he got in manchester because he dared say he was better than Hatton.
He didn't have many fans, people using him to discredit Hatton is something other than a fanbase.
I personally have more respect for Witter than Hatton.

IIRC he did have a couple of chances to impress on ITV after the Zab fight but didn't really do it. He just didn't have the style or the fanbase to attract the crowds.

Or he realised he was being fed to the wolves. I don't think a novice who refuses to play along with the script of being knocked out early and manages to go the distance with a world champion, winning some rounds along the way, has anything to be ashamed of.

Thats probably fair, I guess he knew he was never going to be big in America and trying to get a fight with Hatton was probably his one hope of a really big payday. The scene at Manchester was just fun and games, he knew what he was doing...just trying to gee up a fight with Hatton, I'm sure he thought the more boos the better!!
