Stop fighting world class opponents with KO power perhaps?

To grab a little more cash and retire on a positive note, yes. (and maybe even nab another title)

He can target Billy Dib, who is about to start his comeback against JuanMa's own leftovers (Mike Oliver) on FNF next month. Dib will be looking to build toward a rematch with Evgeny Gradovich - so if he stops Oliver and looks impressive doing it there is no reason Lopez vs. Dib in the fall couldn't be an IBF eliminator, assuming Lopez picks up a rebound victory in the meantime himself. It doesn't have to be anyone major, just respectable enough to justify being ranked and serve to buffer coming off a loss. Rico Ramos, perhaps.

He can probably still beat the likes of Dib now. He might be able to succeed in a grinding war against Gradovich.

    Beyond that level, he's done.

Inaccurate. He is first and foremost a points boxer who happens to have the power, speed, sharpness and punch accuracy to break opponents down. He doesn't necessarily go in seeking the KO, it just comes to him.

Yeah, he does have power but usually the phrase "KO artist" refers to someone who goes trying for a knockout...often the kind of guys who end up down on the cards.

He looked completely shot against Garcia. He needs to retire.

It's trickle-down from the far-reaching Izzy Vazquez curse. :verysad

Rafael Marquez, not satisfied to have lost 1-2 in their epic trilogy, dragged his rival Israel Vazquez into the ring for a fourth time despite Vazquez being quite obviously shot to bits, and knocked him out in three rounds in a pathetic spectacle that lost Marquez a lot of fans.

Marquez in his next outing then looked completely shot himself against Lopez. (still competitive, but unable to perform like he used to, give and take punches as well as he once could - shot physically if not mentally...)

Lopez in turn got knocked out in his very next bout, and once annually since then...looking hopelessly bedraggled the whole time any time he faced a live body.

He isn't the only victim Rafa has passed it on to, either.

Marquez, still looking game but unable to get the job done anymore, fought valiantly but got thrashed by then champion Toshiaki Nishioka - who had begun flirting with some pound for pound lists. After a year of inactivity, Nishioka then looked completely shot and unable to properly defend himself while getting dropped a few times and stopped by Nonito Donaire.

BEWARE THE CURSE!! :err (that means you, Mijares!! ...although you've already 'come back from the dead' in your career a few times...)

I don't think a change in trainer would make a huge difference - it looks like he's a little beyond the point where a few tweaks in his game could straighten him out.

It's too late for a drastic change in style, which would take a lot of time and patience to implement and I don't think a few subtle changes are enough.

JuanMa has enough to beat a lot of fighters but not at the very top level. I don't think it's a question of styles either - Salido and Garcia aren't exactly similar. The tough fights he's been in have taken a toll too.

I like the idea of him facing Billy Dib - if he can't win that one, it's time to hang them up. He can score wins over that type of opponent but the problem is, a few wins would lead to him being thrown into another big fight.

Ideally, he'd have a couple more fights, try and grab a title and leave on a relatively high note.

since he's puerto rican, he should start by staying away from mexicans.
