Midway through Friday's official fighter weigh-ins for "Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers," Strikeforce officials introduced a special attendee one who could soon fight for the promotion. Taking the stage at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill., was submission specialist Shinya Aoki (22-4), the current DREAM lightweight champion. The Japanese fighter said he's attending tonight's CBS-televised event and hopes to soon fight for the promotion. :happy:happy:happy:happy
I heard about this the other day, good news but I'll believe it when I see it. As good the talent exchange thing sounds, I've always had my doubts about it especially when we are talking about a Orgs main star/s like an Aoki. At the end of the day, both orgs need to do whats best for them and their rosters are not that big as it is. There are rumours of a potential Lawler vs Manhoef fight for the Strikeforce December show. Now that would be a great. :deal [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPlcmNvSEFk[/ame]
I dont think DREAM have much of a choice. But im really loving the cross promotions as its great for the fans and the fighters. Strikeforce are really moving on in leaps and bounds right now.
Sweet. Would be nice to see some cross promotion with DREAM. THey should stage the Aoki/Alvarez rematch in Strikeforce.
Thats a fight i want to see. Very good match up. Melendez is far more rounded and i wouldnt be susprised if he stopped Aoki. Then again Aoki is such a BJJ whizz that who knows he could pull out a sub gogoomoplata
Fedor, Mousasi, Zaromskis, Aoki... ...maybe Hendo, maybe Rampage... ...Strikeforce are slowly becoming a MAJOR rival to the UFC.
