Hey I just asked a question since you asked I think that if you want to claim him as the no 1 LW in the world, then his grappling credentials are important, being a grappler and all Anyway Nog has submitted X2 K1 level strikers x2 Olympic Level Wrestlers 3-1 against black belts, with one submission, 1 ko win, 1 decision and a ko loss to Frank Mir Damian Maia has 1-2 in MMA against Black Belts, 1 submission win, 1 ko and 1 decision loss
Aoki is 8-1, 1NC against BJJ blackbelts with 3 subs, the loss was a KOd, Anything else you would like to know?
As I explained, I understand having him as low as #4, but my belief is that the Aoki we saw in Nashville was not a prepared one, I need to see Melendez beat Aoki in Japan to be convinced otherwise.
If Shields and Nick are there then it is almost a certainty, for better or worse If Melendez became the UFC champ, would it change your ranking of Aoki?
aoki was never given a fair go in ufc. left to stagnate for a while then thrown into the deepend is a good way to let someone loose form. u cant say somebody is a "can" just because u have never heard their name. for example the spider is undeafted in ufc but lost to 4 "cans" in japan. dana white never seems to give the japs a fair go. just look at okami, that dude earnt his shot ages ago and he keeps on getting hung out. whether he wins or looses is not the point, he earnt his shot at spider 4-5 defenses ago and from memory hasnt had a fight since.
my bad i was thinkin of another japanese fighter not aoki...... i will tell u as soon as i figure out who it was. but other then that yes i reckon dana fuks them.
