in which other early tyson fight did you see him perform the best? in my opinion: vs donnie long. that tyson who fought donnie long to the tyson who destroyed michael spinks in 88' was also a BEAST. your opinion?
Easy to look good against a Donnie Long for someone like Tyson. His title winning performance against Berbick was absolutely awesome from one so young and that get's my vote as well.
Yea, berbick as well. but man, the tyson on the donnie long fight was a mean beast, the way he threw those wild fast punches and that left hook body/left hook head finisher was super outstanding.
Trevor Berbick and Tyrell Biggs. Although it wasn't a spectacular win, I thought the Tony Tucker win was impressive, as Tyson actually adjusted well after a slow start and outjabbed a 6'5 guy with an 84" reach.
Tyson looked brilliant in the first round against Pinky, but then something sinister happened and Tyson carried him past the under (to the over) of the fight. Tyson also learnt an awful lot in the Ribalta fight and showed that in the following fight against the still lively Ratliff.
Because up until he got through with the right hand that floored Holmes for the first time during the 4th I thought he performed poorly. While Holmes was clinching inside and smothering Tyson's work he was also moving with his feet as well. The ring generalship of Holmes made Tyson hesitant to launch attacks. I do give Tyson credit for being the first to stop Holmes and do it in style when he got through with bombs. But I look at what a fighter is doing from the first bell to finish when rating a performance. And Tyson was a little lost in there for most of the fight and IMO had the chance to pull the trigger earlier. He just wasn't looking good up until he scored the series of knockdowns that ended the fight.
We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm not taking lightly what a spoiling Holmes, even an old one, was bringing to the table. I thought it was a good little test.
Agreed, Holmes looked particularly good in the third round, as well as in the begining of the fourth. Though I gave the first two rounds to Tyson, Holmes still did a good job making him look less invincible.
