Apinun Khongsong born 07/14/1996 is a 5'10 Light Welterweight with a 15-0 12 KO's record. Born in Trang, Thailand an fighting out of Bangkok. Not a hell of a lot is known about Apinun, who used to go by the alias of Downua Ruawaiking, reportedly had something in the vicinity of 100 bouts as an amateur, no info on how many wins or losses. But that's kind of par for the course as far as Thai fighters go, but all of that is irrelevant now, because even though he was an unknown before, he's made his presence felt and in a big way. Apinun got his first shot at glory against rugged Japanese 33 year old war horse Akihiro Kondo, who while he has several losses, most of them coming at the hands of the top operator in Japan, and many of the close SD variety. Kondo's most well known for going the 12 round distance and to war with heavy punching Russian Sergey Lipinets, who landed flush countless times. Kondo never hit the canvass, and supposedly has never been dropped as a pro in 39 matches, well that came to an end when he stepped in the ring with the Thai, who not only KO'd Kondo, but completely and totally disconnected Kondo from his senses, by nearly beheaded him with an uppercut from hell, a KO upset I predicted.:sisi1 So at the very least, we know the power he flashed in his previous matches, is very real and serious enough to compete with the top dogs at LWW. Skillwise, he's got the goods as well, he controls range fairly well, works behind a stiff and punishing jab, has okay footwork, and since he has been clipped several times, he seems to have good whiskers. But his main two strengths is two hellacious punches, his straight right and uppercuts are absolutely ghoulish, and if he connects flush, they do damage. How far will he go? Who knows, his chin might give way when he steps in with beasts like Taylor and Prograis, but at the very least, his power is enough to get a few something to think about, an pull an upset or two, maybe even several along the way. It doesn't hurt that he looks like an absolute badass ripped out out of a Hing Kong shoot 'em up, he got a tuxedo wearing Chow Yun-Fat killer businessman look about him. So Check Out Khongsong Conking Some Lights Out.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

How far can Khongsong go at LWW? What say all of you? Is he another Teerachai Kratingdaenggym? Or can he prove to be a level or two higher? Personally I think he already is.

I love this guy lol his fights are action packed and violent from what I’ve seen. I also think he’s a level higher than Teerachai but it’s still early. There were moments in the Kondo fight where I thought he was going to get caught so I’d like to see him sharpen his defense but other than that, I look forward to seeing his future fights

I’ll check this guy out later when I’ve dropped my son at school, but he’s 15-0 (1KO) or is that a typo?

Several levels above Teerachai for me. Expected the Kondo fight to have been too early for him, but nope! Hoping he's a level above Jomthong Chuwatana

its a pity this guy fell by the wayside. Lost to someone who was 0-1 last year and has been knocking over cupcakes ever since.

Indeed. I do think if he had more experience he could have done better against Taylor. I'm not sure whether he would have won. But I do think that lose destroyed his confidence.

The whole Thai boxing scene has gone downhill... not many up and comers to get excited about... it's a shame

Getting appropriate experience is a huge problem in Thailand. There are many gems in Thai boxing but there just isn't much depth, so the standouts have to tread water fighting novices hoping that they get a world title shot sometime. Just look at who Sor Rungvisai was fighting before upsetting Choco.

We still have actually Panya Pradabsri, Thanongsak Simri both at Light Flyweight + some decent veterans like Nawaphon Sor Rungvisai in Super Bantamweight, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in Bantamweight Featherweight, + Sathaporn Saart in Featherweight + Danai Ngiabphukhiaw in Flyweight.
