    So I've finished work and walking home but I'm struggling after my first game of indoor cricket in 4 years and decide to make a pit stop at the pub conveniently located at the halfway mark home.

    And its a lucky thing because guys, I've just run into the worlds most pre-eminent boxing historian in , er, history.

    The Froch-Taylor replay is on Fox so I settle in to watch, I'm (un)luckily wearing my Pacquiao-De La Hoya T shirt which just screams 'yeah, I don't know **** about boxing' when a strange mix of a half Yank-half Aussie sidles over and interrupts my convo with a mate and starts on about the Green-Jones fight.

    Now I didn't know this, but Jones Jr made $17 million for the fight and Danny $10 million. Thats quite impressive and my quick tally of PPV numbers couldn't sway him.

    But that was just the beginning of my boxing lesson.

    Did you know that;

    Sugar Ray Robinson was the first man to ever beat Jack Dempsey?

    Oscar de la Hoya is the only American to ever win a gold medal at the Olympic Games?

    My new mate was at Ali-Bugner II in Malaysia and Joe actually won the fight?

    Theres more. So many more. so many astounding facts that I hardly had time to absorb them before the next came rattling in. But indeed it was an education and I can only wish you were all there to share it with me.

    I'm sure it's the same guy who told me that Joe Louis was the first man to knock out Marciano and retired undefeated....

    :lol:

    Australia is full of people like that! It's like bashing your damn head against a wall talking to them. I've had to (Attempt to) set so many know-it-all conspiracy theorist straight on Jones-Green... They don't think he threw the fight. They know! And no amount of rational thinking or reasoning will stop their clucking, grinning and condescending head shakes.

    I understand your pain Leon...i get it all the time too.

    Like this guy a month ago was telling me in a pub that Roy Jones was a 8 division champion & the only fight he lost was to Manny Pacquiao.
    Thats why Manny is the best boxer in the world he said :lol:

    One of my dads mates once told me he used to spar with Jeff Fenech and even knocked him out during sparring a few times. A few minutes later he was involved in another conversation and I overheard him say that he's never been of Taree before. :think
