now this pisses me off. It's an old argument but the highest paid footballers would earn that in no time with wages and sponsorships. Wonder how much of the $1.5m AM will have for himself.

As much as I like football seeing these pretty boys earn that much money when really, most of the, don't give a **** about the fans.

Give me a classic fight over a classic football match any day.

He deserves it too. There's no doubting Arum was wanting Cotto to win, I think so I hope he puts up the dollar signs in front of the tornado and makes him a ton.

Both Margarito and Cotto also get small cut from PPV sales.

Cotto probably made like 7 or 8 mill and Margo made like 4 mill.

So you believe Cotto was diminished by this loss? Has Cotto's market value been damaged? I'll tell you one thing - Margarito is worth potentially alot more than he was 3 days ago. Now Arum has two marquis Welterweights, not just one. I think I know who Bob Arum wanted to win when he made this deal - Margarito.

De La Hoya came along with his offer to fight Cotto after Cotto/Margarito was signed. It's possible that Arum is less than thrilled he missed making that one, but he still might see more money overall with Cotto and Margarito as twin enterprises. If Cotto lost to Oscar, Arum would have alot less star power at Top Rank than he does now.

That was Arum's plan all along. He even talked about TV ratings in Mexico for boxing during the promotion for this fight. That's why Arum wanted Margarito to win, so he could tap into that huge boxing market. Margarito's win was on the front page of spanish language Los Angeles area newspapers. The front page, not just the sports page. This is huge. Margarito is a star.
